RE: Winner Jon Bones Jones
My understanding with the GSP vs Silva thing is that if GSP moves up to fight Silva, he is vacating his WW title. That is the main reason that John Fitch has been stating that he deserves to be in the match for the new champion, if that happens. With injuries and upsets, you never know what will happen, but if GSP does fight Silva, chances are it will be in December.....typically that card is one of the better ones for the year, and that is right around the time that GSP would be looking to fight again after Shields.

Personally, I would like to see Sonnen and Silva again.....the guy had Silva beat and instead of just playing it safe he tried to finish him and got caught in an armbar......in the rematch Silva might kill him, but in the WEC Sonnen was even better in his rematch with Filho.....who at the time was considered one of the best in the world, and was a training partner of Silva's.

Silva, who is currently waiting to hear about who his next opponent will be, has informed UFC president Dana White that he doesn’t have any desire to go back to 205 pounds again. He wants to finish his career as a middleweight.

“Anderson Silva has made it very clear to me that he does not want to fight at 205 pounds,” White stated following UFC 128.

The UFC’s reigning and defending middleweight champion will more than likely face either top 185-pound contender Yushin Okami or, in true super fight fashion, take on Georges St-Pierre if the Canadian is able to get past Jake Shields at UFC 129.

Silva vs. St-Pierre is the super fight everyone has been talking about for years, at least until Jon Jones put on a show at UFC 128.

According to White, Silva only tested the waters at 205 pounds because the UFC was essentially asking him to do it. Now he is content to stay at 185 pounds, defend his title, and let the best of the best come to him.

Even with the temptation of adding another title to his mantle, Silva just doesn’t seem interested in any fight at light heavyweight.

“Originally, when I was always talking about him trying to go for another belt at 205 pounds, and he stuck his big toe in it a couple times, I think because I was pushing the issue. He’s made it very clear he doesn’t want to fight at 205,” White stated.

GSP VS SILVA MIGHT HAPPEN...... JON JONES WILL NOT HAPPEN. THIS IS FROM MMA WEEKLY. OH YEAH THIS IS NOT ONE OF MY OPINIONS. STARIGHT FROM THE MOUTHS OF SILVA AND WHITE, CHRISSA19978.

RE: Winner Jon Bones Jones
The guy can fight at any division and be successful......I know he didn't want to fight Machida at 205 because they are friends, but I think he would be ok at Heavyweight if he wanted to move up Smile

Another thing, he is one of the guys that stays in Dana's doghouse. Remember when he wanted to box and Dana told him no......then he had the "subpar fights" against Thales and Cote......then Dana threw one of his "guys" Forrest at him, and look what Anderson did. Same thing with Maia.....before that fight the word was he was going to fight GSP if he won, right after the event when Dana was pissed about the fight they instantly started talking about other options. The GSP vs Silva fight is more or less a question as to whether GSP will move up for the fight. Anyone coming to 185 is fair game and Anderson will fight them, he takes stuff personal, like when Wandy mentioned wanting to fight him, and the whole Vitor deal, since they use to train together.

As for him going to 205......if they want him to fight there all they have to do is create a buzz...."Jon Jones", call him the best pound for pound guy in the UFC....after he wins a few title defenses, and then have him start calling out Silva. I don't think they have to really go that far, but that would definitly do it.....

Like I said before people can chage there mind. His mind could be set today but who is to say he destroys eveyone in the middleweight and gets board and chages his mind. I am not arguing the case of what he said today, yesterday or a year ago we are talking about the future. No one knows what is going to happen. Have you ever changed you mind? I know I have so there is nothing certain in this world, remember 2 weeks ago Evans and Jones said they would never fight each other and now its going to happen. Lets put it like Rashad Evans put it well you never should say never.

RE: Winner Jon Bones Jones
Some of the Strikeforce fighters will come in and contend. Dana White already flip flopped on the whole Strike Force fighters and UFC fighters will remain seperate comment he made initially. After the GSP Shields fight there will be tons of changes I'm sure. I don't see GSP moving up in weight. Not with all the new possible challengers. Sonnen still deserves another crack at Silva as well. Several titles with #1 contenders (i.e. Fitch and Pettis) waiting in the wings for title shots as it is. I would really like to see them offer Couture a last shot at the title. He's earned it over the past 2 years alone. Hard to argue who has done more for MMA than he has. Jon Jones has talent. But don't start bestowing greatest of all time honors on him yet. It's a sport where winners and losers can me dictated by one wrong move where you get caught. This isn't one of those Fedor situations where he can dictate his fights and just roll over past their prime fighters. He's gonna face the best and we will see where he ends up.

RE: Winner Jon Bones Jones
If you remember Sonnen used enhansements and was suspended for that. To me he has to work his way up and take a couple fights before the title shot. The talk is still for Silva vs. GSP but last I had heard I don't think GSP wants to move up in weight to take the fight against Silva. I hope he will so the debate of the top fighter in MMA can be resolved. He has a chance to beat him because of his wrestling. Guess time will tell if he beats Jake Shields.

RE: Winner Jon Bones Jones
Actually, if you research the Sonnen "positive test" you will see that he was on prescribed medicine, and the documentation got botched......so his suspension was reduced from 1 year to 6 months (which has only been done a couple of times) Marquardt being one of the guys that had his reduced as well. That being said, he is indefinitely suspended for laundering money as well.....so no word on when he is coming back. I do know that he is trying to get a shot at Bisping, and Dana is a Sonnen fan, so we will see what happens. I am sure he will fight once or twice before he gets his shot, because of the suspensions, but right after the fight it sounded like Dana was going to give him another shot right off the bat.......you never know though.
