There is no that's it for me... I don't limit myself down that way

I am a Braves fan and collector and other than regular base I collect all cards and autographed OMLB's I can get my hands on

It will be a life long project that I will never finish

Never done, always next year, always the next big SF Giant card..
Quit when you do not have the urge to find/open/buy/sell to support your collection..

No need to quit!! just put them away for awhile. Take a break you'll soon feel the urge to hunt again.

I have taken breaks thru the years especially when I was active duty but then I would see a Beckett magazine or walk by a LCS and the desire to collect fired up again. I tend to be more picky now but there is always more I want to add and the thrill of the chase never gets old.

when you can build a nice card board mansion/house of all the cards you don't want. Don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

RE: So when is enough...enough to stop spending $ on the PC?
You can get the specific features like autos, GU, or RCs of any athelete you want. But IMO you can always upgrade your cards to get something you enjoy more.

I have tried to maintain a PC until I realized I wanted certain cards more than my PC items when it was time to trade. It got old trying to replace PC items after I traded them. At that point I just said "OK no such thing as a PC in my collection", I will continually trade cards and buy cards because there is always something out there that is attainable and I would love to add to my collection for the right price or the right card.

If you enjoy collecting more than hoarding, then sell the things that you can part with or you can replace easily in the future. Start over on what you call a "PC" with just your personal favorites. You might find that you have a different collecting perspective and your PC changes or upgrades in ways you didn't expect.

Good Thread.

RE: So when is enough...enough to stop spending $ on the PC?
This is a nice thread. I collect not by sets or by teams, although I have tried it before and thinking of trying it again. I am on the process of deciding my options. I am mostly a Player Collector and I am a collector who wants all of the cards of my favorite players. I am not a rich man but I do want to own some rare/scarce auto's, gu's, rc's(even xrc's if applicable), and serial numbered cards. I am always interested in base, inserts, parallels and parallel inserts of my PC's. Unlike others, who thinks that trading for commons or non-serial numbered inserts, parallels and parallel inserts will make them look like they are trading down. It is a wrong mentally. Collecting must be done with everything you can find, with everything that you like and with everything that you can afford to buy or trade for. And yes, you can have priorities. Always make some defined goals on your collecting hobby or else you will lose interest in no time. Right now, I am on the process of helping my nephew on his PC. Nick Young RC's and XRC's is what I can offer my nephew. He is actually so happy about me helping him acquire cards of his First Favorite Player in the NBA. I am on the process of teaching him the basics of collecting sports cards and he is learning very fast. I am willing to help him until he finds another player to collect or another sport to collect. By that time, I will let him do his own thing and will only guide him if he needs or wants my opinions and advices. This hobby is so great and I see no reason for someone or anyone to lose their interest. We can just lay low when we are having some problems within our personal lives or within our financial resources, but it is not limited to these things. Finally, I just want to say that I wish you the best in this hobby and continue on collecting what or who you always wanted to collect.

God Bless you,
Peter

When I have 100% of the Jeter cards out there (currently at about 10%), so that will probably be never.
