RE: Beckett Preferrered question
Hey guys, found this thread by luck.
I'm new to the forums, but have been reading Beckett for quite a while. I've had the Platinium package for 4 or 5 years (until it ran out for me in 09. i never resubscribed as i got out of the hobby for a year). I'm back and was looking forward to the discount package. You guys confirmed my fears, it really disappoints me that they no longer have it. |

Given their poor track record, we all know that they will not respond, heck they wouldn't even respond when the site was down for a week in December, they wouldn't respond or acknowledge problems with the new site until an email 2 weeks after launch which they gave no heads up about, it took two emails to customer service and two messages on the board to get an answer which was a simple "not available anymore" to this preffered question. Exactly my point is that they really don't care about their customers and that is their decision, but i can tell you, if you alienate your longtime customers, and your product isn't that great to begin with, it is only a matter of time until you are out of business. I used to sing the praises of Beckett. They would automatically extend your online subscription for any outages. You didn't even have to ask. Now they don't respond at all and they give you "We know our service has had problems but stick by us and you won't regret it", all the while they are sticking it to you with higher prices and no credits for services that were paid for and not delivered. If i were a lawyer, this would be a fantastic deceptive trade practices class action lawsuit. But I guess there is no gain in putting Beckett out of business. Just a bit of advice on what would have been a good way of handling the whole thing, and locking in a good chunk of money for Beckett. 1 week before the new site launch, a nice apolgy email to all your current users for the problems with your service for the last months and the complete outage of the system for a week. Then letting us know what to expect with the new site, including lots of problems and being down for a week during the cut over. Then asking us to stick with you, and to compensate us for our trouble offer us a Beckett Preferred package at the same price it was last year (extra money and more services for Beckett). If your user didn't want to go for that, then offer a discount on the renewal of your online service for the next year, (which they did only if you had auto renewal marked at the mystery time which they chose to launch the new site which they never published), or if your not interested in any of that at least a complimentary extension of your current subscription for 2 weeks for the problems. But then i am not Beckett, I just run a successful business that has happy customers and is growing. |
