I am a stat geek, I have spent more time analyzing stats and falling asleep at basketball-reference.com then I care to admit. Mostly Kobe related but I love all the greats. When Kobe retires I might not stick up for MJ anymore at all. One other thing though...no great player has ever won alone...Ever. Usually three stars and if not three, two of the best players of the era...with the exception of that pesky 03-04 Pistons team.

Good luck on your Shaq card. =)

He got into the all star game as a starter because the rest of the NBA shamed Vince Carter into giving up his spot.

Lol, now were really getting off topic...He's the greatest player because of his winning, Wilt won what, one title? Wilt was definitely the most dominate but it was a much different game back then with about 1.5 times as many possessions to collect rebounds/assists/blocks/points etc. I too am a huge fan of Wilt's stats, but he never did half of what Jordan did for the NBA.
what is per? also, i believe he was one of only 3 players to average 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists a game in 01-02. his averages for the wizards were like 21.5 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists a game, far from mediocre imo.

Good thread with great debates.

No one is hating on anyone, I thought forums were a place where you share opinions and ideas online?

We also need to be careful on this forum with what we say about our cards and where you may have it posted elsewhere.

RE: Shaq's first Celtics auto for sale
Not sure who said it but I 100% agree that Wilt Chamberlain is the best basketball player in the history of the NBA no doubt about it! Michael Jordan is the 2nd best player! The ONLY reason sooo many people think Jordan was the best player ever is because of how the game changed when he came into it. Back when Wilt played, players didnt have multimillion dollar endorsement deals and didn't appear on every single commercial there is! The MEDIA made Jordan the best player to ever play the game! And yes I will say it, anyone who thinks otherwise clearly knows nothing about basketball!! The stats don't lie!!! Wilt 30.1 PPG, 4.4 APG and 22.9 RPG!!! Yes, for his CAREER he averaged 22.9 rebounds per game!!!! Thats unheard of!! Jordan averaged the exact same PPG at 30.1 but only had a measly 6.2 RPG and a little more APG at 5.3.

The biggest stat of all is that Wilt AVERAGED 50 points per GAME for an ENTIRE 80 GAME SEASON!!! For all you Jordan lovers out there, Jordan only had 38 50 point games for his ENTIRE CAREER!!!

So if you want to say the best player and add in what they did for the game, then yes, Jordan is the best. But if you want to say who truly was the greatest and most dominant player to ever play the game of basketball then it is 100% no ifs ands or buts, Wilt Chamberlain!!
