RE: A newbie to vintage
Welcome to vintage. While it is a HUGE part of our sales it is also the passion of most people who work here.
My prized set is a raw (I have no use for graded though I know I am in the minority) EXMT grade set of 1954 Red Heart baseball.
I would encourage you to look at oddball vintage as well as the generic Topps. Kellogg's made some great 1970's sets which are affordable but full of stars as an example.

RE: A newbie to vintage
I haven't been collecting cards very long but have picked up quite a bit new cards but I'm thinking about getting into vintage. Maybe start with collecting topps from the 1970's, I really like the look of 71 so I may start there. Anyone have any suggestions for a newbie.

I've gotten some great advice from everyone. Look back through this post. Best advice I'd say i got was to collect what I like and if you're having fun you're collecting the right way. Good luck with your set!

Set builder thats also looking for all vintage Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia A's.

Phillies team sets finished:
1952 Bowman, 1959 Topps

RE: A newbie to vintage
My son and I collect vintage Yaz and T.Williams. Believe it or not, I have got some incredible deals off the bay for both of them. I can't possibly afford what some of the high end boxes and packs go for, so we buy and trade for just about everything we have.

Good luck with your vintage, hope you find what you are looking for at a good price or trade!
