Actually, yesterday I was on a work PC that had Vista and it gave me errors every once in awhile. I chalked it up to the military network.

Not the military network, that's them controlling the updates. They SUCK on updates. lol. I hated working on military computers, so glad that only lasted a year. Smile

RE: xstreaminsanity script error
I have three, IE8, Firefox and Chrome. I just jump around between them, because I can not get "Norton 360 (4.0)" to show up on Chrome. Firefox works great with Beckett and IE8 runs all of my billpay. Ok, computer guys, a little help would be nice to tell me how to load everything on to Chrome. Firefox lost all of my Yahoo contacts. I'm so confused????? HELP....LOL

I have no idea what I use. But one thing for sure I get the error message myself. Plus one day my organize will be there and then the next it gone again. The last time I was able to see my total cards was 17,000+- and it not showing 5000 +- cards I have added.

RE: xstreaminsanity script error
I use IE8 on a WinXP system and have yet to have a 'script error' message in any part of this new site. I am confused as to why so many members are having that problem but I haven't. Of all the errors or problems with this new site, the one that bugs me the most (other than not being able to trade) is that I still can not get my avatar to show up. I have tried everything that I can think of or have seen listed, but with no results.

Always looking for: Ozzie Smith/Stan Musial/Lou Brock/STL Cardinals, NFL-CAR/GB/NE and NASCAR-Jimmie Johnson/Mark Martin

I have IE8 and I run updates on my computer at least every two days, including the custom ones, not just the high priority. I have never seen any scripting error message. I don't know if it's computer related (processor, ram, etc.) or if it's something else, but there are many people who use only IE8 and they haven't seen this error.
I have this error too....same computer I have used for this site since I joined 3-4 years ago.....has to be something you guys did with the update because I never got the error message before....

A pop up comes up and sez: Stop running this script? A script is causing IE to run slowly. If it continues to run your computer may become unresponsive. Sorry my 8 year old granddaughter knows more about my computer then I do? LOL Thank you in advance

Same error for me. 3 different computers all with IE8.

RE: xstreaminsanity script error
I apologize now for the technical jargon I'm about to spew. Smile

Everyone knows computer programs and processes use computer resources (Processor, RAM, Hard drive, etc.). Everyone knows Windows (in all forms) is not the most efficient at using these resources (that's why a Mac runs better on lower processor power and RAM than a Windows machine does). Everyone knows computers age like humans do, but faster (a computer I built 4 years ago is now extremely out of date).

My personal/professional opinion is that there are going to be people who have these errors and there isn't going to be much Beckett can do about it. Here's why. If you were to have 2 GB of RAM in your computer, running Windows XP Pro, and in the background have ITunes, LimeWire, a torrent downloader, your anti-virus, messengers, and other programs running, your internet MAY act slow. When computer programs are installed, some ask if you want to start the program on startup. Some ignore this and say sure. That's why it takes 5 minutes for their computer to start up, they have 20 programs starting up when they log in. Other programs don't even ask and just do it anyways. And then you have issues like Windows Live Messenger. It comes up when you start up your computer, you hit the X, and you think you've closed it. Nope, it's still running, it's just not showing on your screen anymore. It's down in your tray though and you can exit it from there. I think most torrent downloaders are the same way (not saying everyone has them or should, just know a lot do). And with torrent downloaders, if you download something and don't have your settings right, someone (or many someones) could be downloading it from you, using your resources as well. Also, and I didn't know this until a couple of months ago, but the hard drive has a decent hand in how fast your internet is. Had a co-worker who had a laptop, bought an SSD drive to try it out thinking her programs would run faster, went to the internet and found out that it was running 10x faster. She thought internet was all about RAM, connectivity, etc. But the hard drive also has a hand in it. I want to say 90% of the people who access this site probably have disc hard drives, and disc hard drives CAN get slower and slower over the years. The shelf life has gotten better, but depending on how often you use your computer and for what, the hard drive has a limited number of read and write cycles.

So, in a nut shell, there's no way for Beckett to program something (again, my professional/personal opinion) that is going to work for every computer (not necessarily browser). Chrome, Safari and Firefox all SEEM to utilize resources better (from what I've seen) than IE does. That's why I have yet to see anyone with these browsers have this issue (to my knowledge). They've had other errors, but they were errors returned by the system (php file not working, DB error, etc.) There are many people who have IE (8 mostly) that are not having this issue at all, me being one of them. But as I said, I run updates on my computer every two days and my computer is just over a year old (almost time for a new one). I carefully manage what applications startup on my computer and which ones are running while I'm doing specific things. But even then, I've been able to scan pictures, listen to music, sort my scans of my cards, be on facebook and other sites while on Beckett and not receive this error.

Again, I don't know if this is anyone's issue. I don't know all of your setups and even if I did, I can't say that I would know which programs could be hogging resources or what is being started up on startup of everyone's machines. Even if someone were to manage what programs started up on startup, defragged their hard drive, and was running only the bare necessity of applications while accessing the site and got the scripting error, the RAM might be going, the hard drive might be going, wiring might be going, etc. I just simply wanted to put this out there in case someone did have this issue and had an older computer and ran all of those programs, maybe they could try this. Also, I think floydtown mentioned something IT Guy told him to do, a DNS flush and clearing cache and history, and that worked fine for him as well. There's so many things that are involved, it's hard to pin point any specific cause. Again, just my professional/personal opinion. I do know it isn't account related though. Smile
