A nice auction with a horrible title...
cocutt Wrote::lol: Hi guys. I did not mean to offend anyone at all. It is a joke and everyone should lighten up. I am not trying to piss anyone off at all. Have you ever laughed at Andrew "Dice" Clay or Chris rock? I feel sorry for everyone that has to be PC and so serious. Anyone that knows me will tell you I like to joke around and I have a warped sense of humour. Well I'll be off, Maybey I will fall off my bike and hit a tree like Sonny Bono. You are entitled to be tasteless and try to use humor to sell a card. But don't insult people by condescending to them and saying they are "PC and so serious" and need to "lighten up". There are people out there, myself inculded, that don't necessarily think humor exists in every situation, especially when one uses it to exploit a sale. Call me old if you like (I'm 37), but I prefer a time where men acted like gentlemen, and respectfulness and caring about the feelings of others was not something to be mocked. Consider for just a second that disliking the exploitation of a tragic incident doesn't make us the ones with the issues. |

A nice auction with a horrible title...
Okay guys. Cory is one of the finest guys in the hobby. I have known him personally for over a year now through the hobby and have spent time with him at the Expo and all the Western Canada shows.
Like he said, he has a warped sense of humour which usually has me laughing my arse off. He has good intentions and I guarantee he did not mean to offend anyone. When you look through the action, and see no adverse intent, hopefully you have the capacity to forgive. |

I like to think I have a good sense of humour, and I can be downright nasty when I'm ready, but I have the good sense to know which circles to use it in and when it can be displayed and deemed inappropriate by those who are viewing it. While I'm positive Cory and I can sit and a table and make anyone sitting with us pee themselves laughing, I can't say that Cory has the ability to muzzle his thoughts. Funny guy, no understanding of where and when to use it. You are NOT Andrew Dice Clay or Chris Rock. If you knew anything about those two you'd know that the guys on stage are VERY amped versions of the real thing. They don't likely act that way at home. As for the Cubs fans, having a team that has sucked ***** for 100 years will make them cranky. I don't think too many people (even those IN Chicago) have any pity for the diehards that are more like blowhards. When the Cubs were here in 2003 and I was working field security for the Jays, a bunch of Cubs fans joked with me about the Jays stinking so badly...I pointed up at our two World Series banners. The Jays fans who were paying attention got a good rise out of it. Screw the Cubs. |

Chris Rock and ADC reach millions of more people than Cory does through ebay. ebay is as much of a stage as any other venue out there. You either tolerate tasteless humor or you don't. If you tolerate the comedans who spew racial slurs throughout their show, but ostracize Cory for his auction, you are on a fragile high-horse. Simple as that. Cory is a nice guy who would give you the shirt off his back....not that you'd want it (he doesn't have a washer and dryer). |

This is a truely HORRIBLE title
If you look carefully, you'll see a 2clr Carey Price GU tucked in there that would have sold for more than the ending sum. Too bad I found this 2 weeks too late. |

gomaz Wrote:You obviously missed my point. No, I didn't miss your point. In fact, I wasn't even commenting on anything you said. I actually had to reread what you wrote as I sort of glossed over it. My comment was in direct relation to what Cory wrote, but thanks for your input. If you're naive enough to think that it's cut and dry, that ALL people are either one way or the other, your youth is showing. People pay to be entertained, Cory tried something that wasn't funny. I LOVE Chris Rock (not so much Clay) and I know which of my friends I can share that type of humour with, but I also know the ones I can't (or won't). Point is, there's a place for it...it just takes some people a little longer to figure out where that is. I don't doubt Cory is a good guy. I doubt his ability to tell the difference between the right time and the wrong time, and that's a shame because I'm sure a few people get the wrong impression. Him being a great guy and all. |

But dude, you're not just showing the listing to your buddies who "get" you and your idea of a joke - it's clearly a classless thing to post and trying to justify it really isn't helping you. You're entitled to free speech, but joking about a tragedy is really pretty low, especially if now you're just looking to get your kicks by perpetuating your blunder here on the board. I'd recommend you man-up and clean it up (if it's still a active listing), but the choice is yours. |

What in the heck are you talking about? If eBay is a stage for comedy, I weep for the future of stand-up. Just because people can read someone's comments, it doesn't make the guy talented or deserving of any level of stage. That's like saying I could put my pictures up on MySpace and suddenly I am a model because my pictures are now public. It makes no sense. I think Chris Rock is hilarious. But I'm not sure he's ever made fun of someone's death. His satirical look at race relations is seriously high brow theatre compared to making a joke of a tragic death. |

people are really sensitive about these types of things. here's my twist..Heatley should be charged with vehicular homicide, a wrongful death suit should follow that and I think he should spend time behind bars, that's what I think...

I don't know. Look, it just turned out badly...but how many times have we sped and gotten away with it? It's easy to say what he should have gotten...but if you were in that position and you had a friend die because of essentially being young and dumb, you'd probably think differently. I'm not saying it wasn't a terrible, foolish thing to do, but kid+money+fast car+invinsibilty=trouble. The only reason I didn't find myself in the same position as a 19 or 20 year old is because I was driving a piece of garbage. If I had a Ferrari, I might have been just as unfortunate. That's why I don't throw too many stones at Heater. |
