Catchers...Lots And Lots Of Catchers
I've got more to add to this, but I thought I'd try to get the vintage forum rolling. If you didn't know it, I collect vintage catchers (shameless plug). I look for them in full gear, just a catcher's glove does not work. Anyway, here they are. There are a few duplicates since I've had some graded.

RE: Catchers...Lots And Lots Of Catchers
You know, I don't remember you actually ever posting this little catcher collection of yours. Looks great!
I am curious about a couple of things though.

1) What got you started on this in the first place?
2) Do you have a method to research what cards have the player in gear or do you just run across them?

I was going through a stack of vintage when I got back into the hobby and just thought that any card with a catcher in full gear looked cool. I also have the utmost respect for catchers. I was a pitcher and had a front row seat to watch the guys who caught me get beat to hell.

As for the second question, I used this site actually for most of them (gallery) and when I run across one on Ebay I will note it. I looked up all the "popular" sets from Pre-War through the early 50's and put them in my organize. Anything after say '56, there really is no exact science as I have been too lazy too go through each Topps set, regional, etc. to find all of them. But, I will make an attempt to buy or trade for anything I can find up to the late 70's. One day I'll go through all the sets (Topps anyway) and add them.

RE: Catchers...Lots And Lots Of Catchers
Thats a great collection that I have heard alot about the past few years. I am so glad I finally got to see it. Thanks for kicking the vintage forum off right.

I will make a contribution as well. It might not be very old and its not graded but it is hands down my favorite baseball card of all time.

Thanks and thanks for the contribution. I had that '71 Munson and traded it for some stupid reason. I hope I got something good in return, but I can't remember Smile

RE: Catchers...Lots And Lots Of Catchers
I've been away from the hobby and Beckett for quite some time. Came back a few days ago just to look around and man have things changed! I'm happy to see a section dedicated to vintage cards and hope more collectors participate in these threads.
Anyway, I looked through my collection to see if I had any vintage catcher cards and found these. I really enjoy seeing everyone's cards, especially the pre-war, and I hope to see more
