I keel you mayn Wrote:A lot of ignorance in this thread. Anyway, why would you care so much when the football season is a long time away? And it's not like there are any huge NFL-related news. Yea, it's not soft but there is less contact and collision than other sports-besides baseball. The game is played on a huge field with players running constantly so it's not really designed to be a contact or collison type sport. Yes, the players do elbow, bump, and kick each other but the players aren't hitting each other almost the whole time on the field. There also aren't boards for the players to get checked into-which I'm guessing would happen if the walls were there. |

Here is another thing about soccer over in Europe or werever. The fans they have are amazing if there team hasnt won a game all season they still sell out this huge stadiums. I think that is just the coolest thing wether they lose or win the fans still show up. Ok admit this how many of you guys would show up to your favorite teams game if they havent won a game. I dont think i have ever seen a losing team that still had a Sell out at their stadium. I also think you have 2 be on the best athletes in the world to play soccer all the running pretty much on your feet non stop. I think Americans will get into the sport more once we start getting more and more of our players overseas. I just saw last night Carlos Bocanegra got signed by a French team. Freddy Adu, Jozy Altidore, and Tim Howard all play over there.

dfr52 Wrote:[quote=I keel you mayn] Neither soccer nor football are my favorite sport, basketball is actually, but even though basketball is my #1 sport and always will be, I will tell you that soccer is more of a contact sport than basketball, especially today, where every minor contact in the NBA is called for being a foul. Maybe the contact between two players is less frequent in soccer than in basketball, but when it does occur (and it does, many times over a game), the contact definitely more intense. Please don't make comments about a sport that you don't really know. I've heard many people from Europe comment on football (especially people who play or are fans of rugby) and they say that it's a sport for sissies because of all the padding and helmets. I bet that you as footballs fans don't like to hear such ignorance, so please don't make ignorant comments about soccer yourselves. |

I keel you mayn Wrote:dfr52 Wrote:[quote=I keel you mayn] I don't know the game that well but I wasn't making any statements about strategy or the history of the game. Just that the game is played on a large field and the players don't have contact as much due to this. Football, hockey, and basketball have more contact as they are fighting for position in tighter areas than in soccer. Also the above sports usually (but not always) have bigger athletes who deliver larger blows due to their size and speed. I'm not trying to offend but soccer does not require as much contact and force as football, hockey and rugby. |

They may be considered "great fans" but keep in mind theres more racist bigots in soccer audiences then any other sports, tons of riots, and things like that. I dont agree that you have to be the best athletes in the world to play soccer, a lot of the best athletes in the world are right here in America playing other sports, I think the best athletes are spread around in all sports not just soccer, I keep hearing people say that a football player wouldnt last on a pro soccer field, but you fail to mention the fact that most soccer players could play a series of a pro football game before being mangled. All I ask is that the soccer fans be fair, allot of you seem to be on some pedistile where you feel all the people that dont play soccer only do so because they cant. IDC how popular it is around the world, were in america and that the opinion I care about the most, most countries are far different from america so its natural were probably not gonna like the same things. Ive played all 4 sports in my life and I can tell you football was the most physical, soccer was the most fast paced and rigerouse, Basketball was the most tiring(running back and forth with less time to rest than in soccer), and Baseball was the most mentally challenging and coordinated. I also saw someone say that soccer isnt big here because it isnt introduced to kids enough, thats a joke, everyone I know soccer was the first organized sport we ever played. For most kids in america thats the first town sport they played, basketball was to skilled when your that young, baseball was well.. just T-ball, and football was too rough, most kids play soccer for many years growing up as a kid, just as around the world, but in the U.S. for whatever reason kids lose interest in soccer as they get older. |

I'm Tired of missing NFL Live because of EURO SOCCER!!!!!!!
Regardless of whether or not you like soccer, why would you ever want to listen to the same stories about idiots like Chad Johnson, Pacman, Javon Walker, Brandon Marshall, and whoever else got arrested within the last 2 weeks.
I love the NFL as much as anyone, but NFL Live in June is nothing more than a compilation of stories about criminals who happen to have prodigious talent on a football field. Bunch of thugs |

NFL Live was never a year round thing until a few years ago. None of the other shows (baseball tonight,NBA Live etc) are shown year round, only NFL Live because football fans dont like going that long with no football in their lives. It was made year round because of the demand for it. So theres more people than you think that want to see NFL Live in june. |
