MU Chuckwagon Wrote:ThoseBackPages - Nice Alomar! I built a small graded player collection of his rookie cards.....I have managed to pick up several BGS 9.5's for $5 each. He is a lock for the HOF....and long forgotten by most collectors. As a Tribe fan, Alomar and Vizquel up the middle was a thing of beauty.

Sweet beans brother!

My favorite Alomar RC is his Score Traded, absolutely love that picture, always have.

My favorite Favre card ever made up close and personal. The Pinnacle duffex cards look amazing in person. Would love to see this technology brought back into the hobby. I'll take these over Refractors any day. The book value probably barely scrtches two figures on a raw copy which just goes to show value or price doesn't mean everything.

Wow, those are some nice OPC and leaf grades! Those cards had very bad centering problems.

1988 was by far the weakest year in BB cards design history. Everyone had a horrible looking design that year. I suppose Topps was the best of the bunch.
I cringed busting the wax that year. However, that is a strong alomar head shot.

Funny thing about the Leaf Alomar psa9....i'd been looking for one for some time. the bgs report has a total of 5 being slabbed, none higher than 7.5 i dont have access to the psa pop's, so that was what i had to work with. i asked a wax dealer friend of mine to look into getting me a case of '88 Leaf, depending on the price, of course (lol). he said that there arent any around. i was slightly bummed. about a week later, i was doing my usual eBay searches, and BAM! that psa9 was listed with a $6.99 BIN/BO i didnt even bother with the BO, just hit the BIN as fast as i could! LOL

Here is my lone mail day. Had some bad luck with my last few purchases. Bought a proof set and mint set of coins for my birth year 1985 and it took over a month to get. I also won 1 card out of 2 in a dutch auction and the seller never emailed back or anything(first time selling), so I had to file a claim in on him as he wont answer any emails for the last three weeks, or any at that matter. And the matter of I don't have a lot of money either.

So here it is, not the best grade but I kind of wanted it to judge against the other cards I want to send in from the 80's of Kirby Puckett.

Subs
centering - 8
Corners - 9
Edges - 9
Surface - 7.5
