I have picked up everything from tickets to movers on craigslist without issue. Its all in how you approach it and don't let yourself get scammed - if it sounds fishy and too good to be true - it is.
As mentioned before - try to get home or work email addresses/phone numbers that are more than just aol or yahoo accounts that can be easily faked or changed and I would say always meet the person to do the exchange. We bought tickets to the Frozen Four over craiglist so it ended up being about a $1,000 transaction - after many emails and a phone conversation I agreed to send the seller $100 via paypal and then give him the rest at the event - went perfectly. I wouldn't write anything off just because its craigslist - its the same as a classified ad as far as I am concerned - as with anything, just be careful. You can get ripped off anywhere. |
