There is no way they start Nate Davis, the guy still doesn't know the system. It's a shame we didn't take Rodgers, love that guy (hate the Packers tho). I think Smith will surprise this season, they'll want him to be the typical "game manager" style of qb while they ride a strong running game. If Smith fails, then he is gone since his contract is up....

So to answer the question. The 49ers will address these needs next offseason:
1. CB depth
2. Consistent pass rush
3. QB IF Smith doesn't get the job done this season (goes to #1 priority if he fails)
4. Then OL/RB depth

Nate doesn't know the system??? Alex Smith STILL doesn't know the system. I'm sorry but give up Smith and give Nate that chance. It's time to make that change just like when Favre left and no one in Green Bay was sure Rodgers could do it or not. He proved them all he could.
Smith passes for like what... 128 YPG or so? Crabtree and Vernon Davis has to get the ball. Crabtree's gonna dominate but can't with a so-so QB. Gore and Coffee can't carry the team alone.

Yeah, guys, it's gonna be a challenging year. ATL is the only threat in our division, and we'll atleast split with them. We won't have the takaways like last year, but our D is still a force to be reckoned with. And our Offense, well...nuff said!

NO and ATL has to watch out for Carolina and TB, both VERY young teams now. Carolina's gonna run that stupid wildcat more than once now since they've got Armanti Edwards, who I believe is probably the best secret weapon out of this years draft. With TB, Freeman's gonna either pass for 250-300 or throw up 3+ INTs per game. He doesn't have a WR to throw to, but does have Winslow Jr. Freeman plays like Rothleshamburgerwithcheese, a big guy that hold the ball forever but can find his receivers.

my team is the chicago bears

Rb matt forte had a down sophmore season from his impressive rookie season, however with the addition of chester taylor to help carry the load the rb postion will no longer be a problem.

Ol- We are getting old (kruetz,garza) and inexperienced (williams) so this is going to be coin flip this year. This will be the downfall of the chicago bears this year.

Wr. Johnny knox, devin hester, and aramoashodoooooooo will be a decent starting 3 for the bears with another year of experience i dont see how it can get any worse than the year before

qb, cutler led the league in interceptions last year but was in top 7 in touchdowns. He has the potiental to be a top 3 qb, one more year with the recievers, im really excited to see what he and the recievers can do.

Defense the defense has many holes but a few bright spots also. the safety position is going to be a problem but our lb postion is top of the league, along with a restructed and powered defensive line , the lack of safetys might not be a problem.

The Bills:

#1-  The owner.  Too old, too cheap, too involved in management decisions.  Sorry Ralph.
#2-  The QB.  Captain Checkdown proved that he can't do the job.  Fitzpatrick is a backup in my opinion, and Brohm is...well, I don't know yet.
#3-  The O-Line.  There is a love affair with Demetrius Bell at LT.  Why?  Who knows?!!!
#4-  I'd say management, but I'd like to give this new regime a worthwhile look first.

sigh...please know what you're talking about before you respond.  i've been a 9ers fan for over 20 years and I know the team pretty well.  Nate doesn't know the system fully and it has been well documented that he has a learning disability..plus it's only his 2nd year.  I like Nate, he just isn't ready yet and he may get his chance in the future.
Smith FINALLY knows the system (which has been documented from numerous sources), since being in the league Smith has had a NEW offensive coordinator every year...this year being the FIRST time in his career that he has had the same system and coordinator in consecutive years.  If you looked up Rodgers, he sat 3 years on the bench and learned the G.B. system...3 YEARS, while Smith was thrown to the wolves on the 9ers when they were terrible back in 2005.  On top of that Smith has missed 2 FULL seasons due to injury and bad play (on a bad team).  His college coach, some guy named Urban Meyer was even quoted to say that Smith won't be a good qb until he fully knows a system.  Who knows what would've happened had Rodgers been drafted and made to start right away on those bad 9ers teams.  Sigh...all this being said I don't know how good Smith will be, BUT this is his season to prove it.  Maybe he fails...only time will tell.

CAR and TB have a ways to go before they will compete in our division. While they might be better, they still have some major issues.

Smith finally knows the system? Thrown to the wolves??? Here's examples of QBs that were thrown to the wolves... Matt Ryan, Peyton Manning, Joe Flacco, Ben Roethlisberger, Mark Sanchez. They're doing pretty darn well.
Smith is coming up on year five. How much longer does he need to learn the system before they realize, this guy aint it? How much longer before the fans start booing their own team and run off Singletary? How much longer before guys like Gore, Crabtree, Davis, and Willis (even though he signed that big contract) ask to be traded?
