RE: Hobby pet peeves.... what are yours?
This always cause me to ignore people. I post things for sale and said make/taking offers. Someone will respond, how much you want for a particular card? i said I'm flexible, just make a reasonable offer and its yours. They tell me I don't know as its your card(s) and you know how much you want for it. So, I give them a price (ie. $6). They say, will you take $5 for it?
Ok, if you wanted to pay $5 for it, why didn't you just make that offer? I thought you "didn't know". All communications end there. Hate when people haggle over pennies. they IM me later and said are you still selling them card? I mute them and move on. That's always been a pet peeve and a reason why eBay gets a lot of my business.

RE: Hobby pet peeves.... what are yours?
my pet peeve is the card shop owners that act like "if you are not going to buy the most top of the line product or hot rookie of the moment then what are you doing in here" kind of attitude. Why can't I just come in and shop a little, pick up a few of my piddly cards, even strike up a nice conversation with you? Why must I buy the most expensive thing in your store if I come in?

RE: Hobby pet peeves.... what are yours?
How we have lost the personal interaction. That is one thing that this hobby should be about, now it's all about electronically bidding on a card, electronically paying for the card, and electronically printing out shipping and sending the card out into the ether. We talk about the hobby by posting on message boards and trade to faceless souls somewhere on the other side of the country.
I was able to attend a show yesterday and was able to see people and talk to them and everyone there seemed to have a genuine passion for the hobby and really just love talking cards as much as I do. I talked for 10 minutes with one guy about the three 1987 sets and how much we loved them. So basically my pet peeve is we have devolved our hobby into just being some scans in our photobuckets, and posting out IMG s on beckett.com instead of showing it to an actual human and seeing their reaction and talking to them about it. Oh well at least I know I can go and get a "rare" gold refractor of any player at any time on ebay. ![]()

People that constantly brag about their collections, while trying to convince you how much better their collection is than yours. But......they never produce one single card of what they claim they own. Then when you offer to trade for some of their "incredible" cards, they claim something happened (it was misfiled, the kids lost it, its in the safety deposit box, etc).
If somebody has a better collection than me, great! I am POSITIVE there are many who do, However, I collect what I like, which is what makes it my collection. Collecting past and present Redsox
