When does collecting go from a hobby to an obsession or an addiction?

I am doing the same.

Will- It would be worth it to pay the .15 cents, or whatever it is, to Ebay to start your auctions on Sunday evening East coast time. Way more buyers at those hours, can really make a difference in sale price.

Just wondering, where are you guys getting your info on when to start and end your auctions? I live in New York and was wondering when would be best to start and end auctions? Thanks

Yeah Ray that's a good point, I forgot you can pay the extra to have your auction start at a specific time.

Elgin - I had a friend who was selling a whole bunch of stuff on eBay and gave me the advice. The idea is that more people are on their PC's shopping on Sunday night and that more people are prone to throw a bid on something that's ending soon... i.e. They'll watch an auction if it ends in an hour.
I've noticed this on the selling side AND on the buying side... my little secret to buying on eBay. Last year for example, I was on eBay the night of 4th of July STEALING cards... cuz naturally nobody else was on, everybody's at fireworks, so I got some great deals!
So Sunday night is always your best bet because you have to assume more people are on. I know I would do this when I first started buying again. I'd do god knows what on the weekend, then Sunday night... check out some eBay before the work week started up.

My favorite part of christmas is stealing cards off E-bay, their is no one bidding. NEVER list your cards to end on a holiday.

Easy way to control your collection is to say from this point forward it will be cost neutral. If you want new cards sell the old ones which no longer meet your collecting goals and desires. What you have spent in the past is sunken money, but you can move forward with your current collection as the best asset to add to your new collection.

yeah you can get better deals as a buyer usually through the week or a card that ends early in the morning.

I'm a little different guys. I work a full-time 40 hour job. Then I work at the driving range and whatever I earn there, I can use on cards.

I do agree with other comments though. I sell some stuff that I can't move and use the money that I use to pay the fees and bid on other stuff. It doesn't completely make it "free" but you definitely spend less.
