If he truly meant it he would play for the league minimum. I know you have to take care of your family and all but who wouldn't be able to with $500,000 annually? (or whatever the leauge minimum is for a veteran.)

Doctors, firefighters, cops who are saving lives get significantly less than that.

I love watching football and Tommie is right, it's just a kids game. Unfortunately the system is what it is and my money goes to them purely for my entertainment. :? but what I despise are greedy agents, players and even dumber owners who pay them these outrageous salaries. I also hate the PA because they think that these players are not being treated "fairly". Give me a break. When is it ever not fair to make $40 million to catch, throw or run an oblong pigskin? Of course we all want to get what we're worth, but common sense and practicality has been thrown out the window a long time ago on this one.

Why do people hate? The guy handled his contract negotiation very well because no one heard a peep out of him being unhappy or I diserve this or blah blah blah.

It may be a kids game but its still a business, just as he said. Just because he gets paid a kings ransom to play a game doesn't mean that he should settle for less than what the market dictates. Walking into the situation he had to know he was a top 3 DT and I'm sure he expected to get paid like it. He had to have known the Bears were gonna pay him due to the fact he's a BEAST and good beast-like DT's are rare. So he kept his mouth shut and they took care of him.

Game recognizes game. Most of you aren't businessmen so I wouldn't expect you to be able to grasp the inner workings of a business deal.
