Jon Lester channeling the spirit of Rodney Dangerfield?
Dude gets zero respect (in the hobby.) Guy comes back from cancer, wins a WS in beantown, and pitches a no-hitter.

After 7 strong today (no runs, 5 K's, just a single BB) he's now is 6-3 with a 3.18 ERA. He's also cut down on the walks now averaging just a tad over 3 per 9, and has walked just 12 guys in his last 7 starts.

What will it take to get his BC RC Auto consistently over $20? 300 wins? A couple perfect games? Sheesh, I for one can not figure it out.

Yeah. It's kind of surprising. He looked really good again tonight.

Edit: misread.

No plans to sell any any time soon.

I honestly do not get it. He has completely exceeded my expectations to this point coming back from cancer, and I'm surprised that with everything that has happened his BC Auto is not $100. Boston, cancer survivor, WS-hero, pitched a no-hitter, and is pitching like a top of the rotation guy now.

Well I disagreed with you last year that his story would lead to big prices, but I am pretty surprised that he's not selling much better based on his performance and team. He could just be one of those guys that just doesn't excite people, it happens. It could take a Cy Young to get prices closer to where you think they should be.

Great thread. I was thinking the exact same thing tonight. To think - the f'in Twins could've had the following for Santana about 6 months ago...

Lester
Ellsbury
Masterson
Lowrie

Unfricking-believable that the Twins passed this up for the mass of mediocrity they got in return from the Mets. The Twins inept trading abilities, and the gross underestimation of Lester and the Sox farm system, may have insured a 5 or 10 year run of good fortune for the Red Sox.

Theo - once again the Golden Boy. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

I'm stumped on this one to be honest. Usually when I'm wrong with an investment (which happens more often than I would like) I can look back afterwards and see where I went wrong. Still can't figure this one out, and with his performance this season, it is even more puzzling.

Boston refused to give up Lester AND Ellsbury, it was always either or. The two were never in the same package.

Depends who you talk to. I've heard from one reliable source that this deal was in fact discussed with the Twins very early on in the process. But you are correct that after 3 weeks of brokering the Sox backed off and it became an either/or deal.
