YOU NEVER KNOW
can any one recall a couple years back 07-08 we all wanted to pull one of the big fish that year Price. When you opened a packed and seen the a Canadians goaltender rc and it always ended up being Halak and you always got pissed. Now fastforwad to this day and this strange market and spot where any thing can happen and whos card would you rather have. I still think Price will come out on top with another team

Looking for Jakub voracek and Ray bourque cards

YOU NEVER KNOW
Hockey is a great sport for this,   you never know in a few years what will happen.     Look at Martin St. Louis, Marc Savard, Iggy, to name a few players I seen play a few seasons down in the AHL before hitting it up big time.       So you never know

using tracking numbers (all US and some Can)

Poor Carey Price. He never was the same after that season. I really wanted him to be the next great Habs goalie. If he finally gets his stuff together I hope he'll still be on Montreal.

That said, Halak has been amazing and he saved our bacon this series.

i would still rather pull Price. even with all the hype surrounding Halak these days, Price's cards are still worth more.

YOU NEVER KNOW
I hear what you're saying. Here's my take.

1 - I think Halak has more than earned one of the hardest spots on one of the hardest teams to make it on in the NHL. I don't mean just playing for them, I mean putting on performances that satisfy one of the most rabid segments of sports fans in North America. He deserves to be where he is, and very well could be the goalie Montreal has needed since Roy left.

2 - I think Carey Price is a ridiculously good goaltender who wasn't quite given a fair shake. He was placed on a pedestal by the management when he came in and turned into the scapegoat for all the Habs' woes. In the hands of good management and maybe more forgiving fans, Carey Price would be a superstar. I don't think he's any less talented than a guy like Marc-Andre Fleury, I just think Fleury was given the time and space to develop properly. Carey Price was supposed to be Roy or Dryden and do it all in his first season, or at least first couple. Thing is, no one planned for Roy or Dryden. The second they planned for Price his fate was sealed. And I'm sorry to say, only two people in this world are Roy and Dryden and their names are Patrick and Ken. Maybe another one will come along, but Montreal has to realize that the Canadiens need to work harder now than they did when they won all those other cups and they can't rely entirely on a goalie. Price might have stood a chance if the Habs had put a decent team in front of him, or hadn't promised the fans instant gratification, but they didn't and they did. The best thing Price can do is sign a deal as a starter for a team on the rise, or a young team that just needs a solid goaltender, nothing more nothing less. Washington, Anaheim, NYI. A city that cares about hockey, but doesn't live and die by it. A team with some history, but not necessarily a lot. As for Halak, if the Habs put a team in front of him (I will say for this team there's not a ton of talent but there is a lot of heart) he has a shot, if they continue to put up teams like they have for the last 10-15 years, he's done for.

3 - Strictly value-wise I'd still rather pull a Price RC than a Halak RC because long term (and away from MTL) I think he's got a more solid future ahead of him than Halak. Plus the fact he's from BC makes me like him a little more. I wouldn't be unhappy pulling either though. Either one would be up for trade right away (actually not long ago I pulled a Halak RC and traded it within 20 minutes.) so I suppose I would be happier with whatever card got me something I wanted.

-Collecting: Steve Kelly, Barry Brust, Danny Watkins, Justin Schultz
Smyl, Linden, Naslund, McLean, Lidstrom RCs
Canucks O-Pee-Chee & OPC Premier cards
-If it's in my bucket and not my org, let me know!

I agree with Wickabee.  Price was thrown to the sharks up there in Montreal.  He was what an 18 year old playing for the most historic franchise in the NHL.  The management was hoping he would turn into a Dryden or a Roy and carry them to the Stanley Cup in his first year.  I feel bad for him because if there wasn't so much pressure him he could have been one of the greats.  He is still young which will help him, but he needs a fresh start somewhere else.

Collect Ray Bourque, Ryan Miller and Patrice Bergeron.
