I know Mat Gamel is having a great year. In fact the whole huntsville lineup is pretty impressive. But has anyone seen the jump his prices have made in the last week? It pains me to see how high his prices are right now. During the fall league I sold two orange refractors (1/25 and 25/25) I paid $30 each and sold them for around $130 each.
Well I look up what is on auction now and an Xfractor is at $71.00 with 4 days and a Blue refractor is at $132.
I was thrilled last fall when I sold my entire stash of gamel off in the fall and made what I thought was a killing. Now Im left banging my head against the wall in disbelief. Chuck Norris and Matt Laporta got nothing on Mat Gamel

I just dont see why people are paying this much. Granted he only has two rookie cards (Bowman chrome and sterling)
But his parallels are selling for as much as Jay Bruce's were before he was called up. Meanwhile you can still pick up the base chromes for around $3.00.

the lack of cards is huge factor. Bruce had a ton of stuff in 2005, including autos, granted he is a better prospect than Gamel but when the market sees a guy tearing up the minors and then sees he only has two cards and no autos the prices explode.

Nice.... this is exactly what I was waiting on. I have an xfractor and refractor that I pulled in 2006.... been watching the prices slowly rise..... I think now is the time to cash in. I had seen Xfractors get $30-40.... Now its tough to turn down $70 or so.

His season has been nothing short of incredible. It pains me to even think of selling the beauty!

yes I know but at the same time a refractor is selling for $30 and base chrome selling for $3.00.
There is the disparity. You can still pick up base chrome at a decent price. With the way his parallels are selling a base chrome should be in the $6-7.00

I listed a BGS 9.5 blue refractor a couple of weeks ago. The last 9.5 listed before mine sold for over 100 and I only got 70.00 for mine. I was stunned. Since then, they've all closed over 120-130 for raw copies unless someone was dumb enough to accept a best offer. I still have 3 oranges, 1 gold and 2 raw blues and 2 blue BGS 9.5's. I was going to list one last night but didn't want it to end on Father's Day. I thought about listing some tonight but I'm heading to the Angels/Rays game after work and won't be on the computer.

Jimbo should have a nice stash too. I was in bidding wars with him on a few.

I didnt think of that.... but I have my stuff scheduled to end abotu 8PM on Sunday... so I figure its safe since Father's Day isnt an all night type thing.... usually early afternoon or so.

Doesnt he also have a just minors base/auto as well? I thought I saw one somewhere.

I just sold my Sterling gold for $300, and I'm happy. I was worried about the ceiling on that card, POI, so i doubled my money. I'm still sitting a few Chrome and Sterling parallels.

what excites me about this is that when he finally gets the call, these over-inflated prices will have set even the low-end at a pretty decent return. I'm hoping for $5 a chrome when he pops.
