Ouestion/Opinions on Trading?

In the end I would not much is going to change here and there will be some of us that are still going to be hard to deal with...

Ouestion/Opinions on Trading?
The Cardboard Fan Wrote:Clint, not that I wouldn't trade for the Hanson... the card you wanted I have been holding out to get my first Maddux or Glavine auto... I don't have as many bargaining chips as some of you sorry

That was all that needed to be said and I would have respect that and understood. If I would have traded cards out of my trade bait for the Hanson's I would have traded you for more trade bait but I bought them because I thought you would like them and it's my fault for thinking you would trade for something I needed for my collection to get them as that's what I do. It's my fault for assuming things like that of others and I do apologize. I am not up on all the newer players and who is good and who is not...I have to wikipedia them for the most part or read reviews but I knew a lot were looking for Braun so I thought he would be a little easier to trade for something I needed and it was not because of the BV was higher and I wasn't trying to get the better hand. Then you told me that you stopped focusing on just being a single player collector and didn't want to trade your good stuff off all on one player and I respect that as we all seem to change our trade habits from time to time. Then my assuptions kicked in and I thought you were mad/upset with me...then here comes this thread and me up all nite all wired out on coffee emoticon as I'm trying to get back into my nite routine since my vacation ends tomorrow nite. I was not trying to attack anybody personally and especially not you or Mel but just venting as Mel puts it emoticon and was adding comments to the thread. You were the very 1st person I meet when I came back to the hobby and my 1st trade. So I hope you didn't take what I said personally as I didn't mean it to be that way. If this has all came out wrong I do apologize.

Ouestion/Opinions on Trading?
The Cardboard Fan Wrote:I guess my biggest frustration are the people that take it way too serious

Agreed.

I'm pretty laid back, and not much gets to me.  I can take just about anything that happens in a trade in stride.  Sometimes things happen that are annoying, but no more than that.

I really only have two 'guidelines' I follow:

1. I really watch people's behavior and actions on the boards (aside from just being a mod I mean).  Not just looking for rule-breaking, but how people handle and present themselves.  If you really take the time to 'watch' (so to speak) people, it's pretty easy to peg the problem traders just in how they speak/type, interact, etc.  If I get a bad vibe from someone, I simply don't trade with them, no matter how badly I may want something they have.  In other words, I don't go looking for trouble. (those of you who traded with Nelly - I'm talking to you!!)

2. The only other guideline I have is that I expect people to act responsibly.  Since you brought up the topic, Mel, this is why I would NOT call you a problem trader.  You take responsibility for your trades.

What I mean is this - and I'll use a few common 'complaints' as examples.  Personally, I don't care if you ship in a PWE.  I don't care if you are a slow shipper.  I don't care if a card gets lost in the mail.  I don't care if the cards are in pristine mint condition.

However, what I expect is that if you do any of these things, you take responsibility if any of these issues causes problems.

I don't care if you ship in a PWE - as long as you're willing to take the responsibility to replace/return cards if damage happens.

I don't care if you're a slow shipper - as long as you make reasonable attempts to ship as soon as you can and keep people informed.

I don't care if a card gets lost in the mail - as long as you again are willing make reasonable concessions on negotiating a fair compromise.

I don't care if the card I get isn't in pristine condition - as long as you make reasonable attempts to grade it correctly and don't pass off a badly beaten up card as 'mint'.

I agree
Treat the cards you are sending to me as the cards you are wanting to get in return. And treat me the way you want to get treated in return.***(You is not anyone specific)***

Ouestion/Opinions on Trading?
Well, since I'm new here, I am curious....

Anybody have any problems with me so far?

I don't mind trading down, and obviously trading "up" but as long as I get one or two cards in a trade that I know i want. i'll most likely do a deal if I know the guy is really looking for my card.

Now with Michael...we have done 1 trade and as far as I know we were both happy am I correct ? I had that Griffey you wanted and you went and bought a Mauer off ebay that I was wanting...Michael and I are on the same page because I do the same thing....collector helping another collector with their personal collection....that's what makes the trading world go around IMO emoticon

I'm totally happy with the deal man! Glad you held on and let me do that sort of deal. emoticon
