Wow.. I was at work today and I got a call on my phone that fedex had a package for me to sign for.. I asked that they leave it and they said they could not.. I was puzzled as I had not ordered anything recently so I had no idea what it could be..

When I got home I grabbed the door tag and went online to see if I could get more info on who sent it.. No sender was listed but I saw something in the tracking details I recognized..

I knew it was upper deck and it was likely a redemption.. normally it just comes regular mail.. I couldn't figure out why it would be sent express with signature required.. then it hit me.. it was the one i'd been waiting nearly 2 years for.. I logged into my upper deck account to see what was pending/redeemed and to my amazement it was no longer pending.. I had lost faith in them being able to fulfill it so it was ridiculous surprise..


anyways.. enough suspense..

I can't believe it.. I called fedex and asked them to hold it and i'll pick it up first thing in the morning.. My only regret is that it didn't come a month or two ago when paul/deron cards were going crazy..

I must admit there's a part of me that worries that in this package will be some replacement that I did not choose.. if that's the case and it's not a maravich cut and a babe ruth cut i'm going to freak out..

so.. now some feedback from you guys..

think its the real deal?

think they are really #'d 3 of 5 (there was some dispute on their part that they wouldn't be, but thanks to the boards help I've documented that they are in fact supposed to be #d to 5..

instantly send it in for grading as a set? How much will it improve the value over raw cards?

sell as a set or individual? and in either case.. after the holiday or wait till basketball season starts? I realize that many of you have put in for dibs for individual cards and i will be getting back to you all once I figure out what to do..

Throw it on the bay with a ridiculous BIN OBO price and just field offers. If you don't need the money now, why sell it? Just wait until the season kicks off or until next seasons playoffs. Also, with a rare complete set like that, I would only sell it as a set, not individually.

Hopefully UD actually made this set, but if you do get a replacement it better be something worth in the thousands (like the Pistol Pete or Ruth that you mentioned).

I am looking forward to seeing what this set actually looks like if you indeed do receive it. There was never any preview of what the design of the cards was

Haha also my suggestion of course is for you to break it up if you decide selling. You'd undoubtedly maximize your money this way with all the Player Collectors from that year, including myself :-D

Do that only if you know you can't sell it as a set...There are a good amount of set collectors in Asia and in Europe that would pay top dollar for that particular set.

i'm not sure if i'll be able to sleep tonight.. i'm so wired right now.. i'll be there to pick it up at 830am when they open and i'll have scans available right away when i get home...

it's going to be a really tough call on this one.. if they're solid and gradable a complete graded set might be ridiculously amazing..

with the cards being numbered 3 of 5 (unless they screw me) and this being paul's jersey number i see this card being one of his top rookie cards available.. just my opinion though..

I personally would only grade the set if I knew all the cards would grade out at a BGS 9.5 or higher (which is probably you're thinking too). It would take away from the set if you had some cards graded at 8.5

I think you'd be surprised at what kind of money you could rake in on some of the lesser players from the set, i.e. Maxiell, Ersan, McCants
