And I like to look up that on youtube every so often because somehow, watching a hockey player beat up the fans in the stands, makes me smile. I suppose I'm an idiot.

Wink. I was not going to bring that one up hehe.

But there is also another big Cooke collector out there, not on these boards though so there is 2 Wink..

Does the other guy's name rhyme with "rat book"?
Nope, his name is Randy, I actually see him often in person. I think he is still a member here but does not post here. Goes by the name Orca Pod. Who were you speaking of? Are they on this board?

Nah. He used to live in the lower mainland but moved to the eastern US somewhere. He's the kinda guy you only like when he's on your side.

thecooker24 Wrote:P.S. Thought the announcers said they were not sure if Cooke did it on purpose, It sure looked like he did tru to get in there and get a piece of Savard. Given his track record and such. Did not look like he wanted to get out of the way. Im a bit confused why no Bruins did anything though. I don't care if there is only 5 mins left in the game, you have to do something when you STAR player gets a cheep shot like that. Why no Bruins stepped up and scrapped with Cooke is beyond me. What happened to the code?...

I agree with you that Lucic or Thornton or Chara or Begin should have done something regardless of what penalty they got or if they were shorthanded the rest of the game. Something should have been done. Maybe they were holding themselves back cause the B's play Pitt in like 10 days again. In Boston. But I doubt he will be there for that game seeing as a suspension is imminent. Guess they werent thinking about that.

Yeah, he lived in Calgary before he moved to B.C. Definitely a lover of the Canucks and never was afraid to show it! Miss him at our monthly show as he was always good to clear out my Canuck crap! he was known as Orca in the C at one point.

So you knwo Randy to eh? Small world! When he lived in Calgary he and I chatted a bunch and traded and stuff. We ended up meeting up at a Canucks game for the first time a few years ago. Shortly after he moved here and we see him at the time at our monthly shows now. We share the same birthday too Wink. Anyhow, a good dude indeed Smile.

I'm more than confused now. I guess that's no different than usual, though.

What happened to the days when these hits were considered "CLEAN" and the player knew next time to keep his head up? I say this, contending that it wasn't late, and I don't think it was an elbow. Yes he was vulnerable, but so what?

I want a return to the days when the only consequence of this hit would be Cooke having to answer the bell, and Savard would keep his head up the next time. I would also like the league to outlaw the equipment players wear today, and return to elbow "pads" and shoulder "pads" not the ARMOUR that they wear now.

Looking for Habs Seq#'d 24/xxx

Agreed on the fact that the "pads" on both the elbows and shoulders are weapons now.
You know a buddy and I were smashing down a few cold ones on the weekend, and Rock 'em Sock 'em 3 ended up getting put on and we were counting how many of the hits that were shown as great hits, would have warranted at LEAST a penalty, if not a suspension by todays standards. However, a head shot is still a head shot, and we can't be having it.

Cooke clearly stuck his elbow out to make contact with Savard's head. No question it was intentional. Banishment is the only option for stuff like this.

Dude really? I mean come on. You are saying it that way because it was a Bruin and you are a Habs fan. Id like to see you take a hit like that and say its clean. It was a head hunting blindside hit ot the head. Exactly what they are trying to get rid of. If it was clean then I wouldnt be saying this as I also love big hits, WHEN THEY ARE CLEAN. If that was Crosby who got hit like that say from Shawn Thornton, not only would he have gotten a5 min major, he would already have been suspended. So come one now
