At the FSL Single-A All Star game, I saw the Vero Beach lady that some of you hear on the radio broadcasts ("Go Go Devil Rays!! " ). She is awesome. She's the biggest fan of Vero Beach and my wife and I are the biggest fans of her. Well, tonight she got into a yelling match with a lady that was (for some strange reason) annoyed with her cheering. Here is what happened (this won't be as funny reading it, but if you were there you would have died laughing):

Vero Beach Lady: "C'MON EAST COAST, WE'RE ALL BEHIND YOU!"
Mad Lady (covering her ears): "Yes, we're behind you, but please stop." (saying this towards the field)
VBL (to her husband): "What did she say?... What did she say?"

10 min. later...

VBL: "C'MON EAST COAST, WE NEED SOME MORE RUNS!!!!" (East Coast behind 8-3)
ML (covering ears and talking towards field again): "We need quiet."
VBL (yelling at ML, who is two rows in front of her, while my wife and I are between them): "IF YOU WANT QUIET, YOU SHOULD HAVE GONE TO A LIBRARY!"
ML: "What!?"
VBL: "IF YOU WANTED QUIET, YOU SHOULD HAVE GONE TO A LIBRARY."
Me: "I agree. It's a baseball game."
Then both VBL and ML started yelling back and forth...
ML: "Don't yell in my face."
VBL: "I'M GOING TO KEEP CHEERING!!!"
Finally,
VBL: "WELL IF YOU WEREN'T BENDING OVER SHOWING EVERYONE YOUR REAR END... I apologize."
ML - too mad and shocked to know what to do

ML (to her husband): "She keeps on and won't stop."
ML Husband: "Who cares? Don't worry about it. Just sit here."

ML turned around to us and said: "It's not the cheering, it's just the tone. I'm a little league umpire, so I should know."
My wife (to me): "Why is she talking to us?"
ML turned to her: "What?"
My wife: "I said why are you talking to us, we're not a part of that."
ML: "I was just saying I don't like the tone."
Me: "I like it. It's cheering."

VBL went to get an usher to explain the situation "I'm trying to cheer and this lady is telling me to stop yelling." Then they started fighting more. The usher told them to calm down and told VBL to be a little quieter to which she responded toward the field,
VBL: "LET'S GO EAST COAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not going to be quiet, it's a baseball game!!"
After steaming for a few minutes, the ML got up and ran up the stairs toward VBL. They bumped each other apparently, causing ML's drink to spill on the ground. She then left with her husband, yielding the victory to VBL (kept her seat and her right to yell.)
VBL (toward the fans behind her and all around her): "I NEVER GIVE UP!!!"

Squeeze (the VB Devil Rays mascot) came up to her and was holding her hand up 'in victory' to show everyone. "I NEVER GIVE UP!!!" People went nuts, cheering! Then over the next several innings, literally about 20-30 people came up to VBL to tell her how much they appreciate her. Everyone that came up got to hear the whole story about how ML said 4 comments to her and she finally responded to her and that ML was looking for a fight with her.

Some of her great cheers to players tonight:
"C'Mon Logan, what's your slogan!?"
"JT, you're just the man!"
"Come on Tony, 'Cruz' around the bases!"
"Squeeze the ketchup" (when Squeeze had the ketchup costume hat on his head, then laughing at her joke because she thought it was hilarious)

Also, VBL to the guy selling programs: "Is my picture in here?"
Program Guy: "No, just the players."
VBL: "Well it should be, I'm very important!"

One of her fans came up to her and said, "You sure cause some trouble sometimes, don't you?"
VBL: "I know. I'm very controversial."

I just thought you all might want to know a little bit more about the background and character of Vero Beach's #1 super fan, so that you can know who is annoying you when you listen to the David Price games on the radio.
