Official 07-08 ITG Ultimate 8th Edition thread
Well folks it is getting close to ITG Ultimate 8th edition and from their website http://www.itgtradingcards.com/index.html
it looks as though they have posted their base cards. What is everyones opinions on it so far? I would say the base look great. I like that they have gotten out of the old fashioned look and went to the what appears to be shinny look. |

I think they look a million times better than last years base. Other than that I am burnt out on high end sets so I dont really have much excitement toward it. I am interested in seeing if they have any new and exciting subsets like stick racks this year.

It is nice that ITG has added colour to the base set, but with the metallic/shiny look, it somewhat reminds me of a Pokemon card/Yu-Gi-Oh playing cards.

I liked the base cards from 2004-05 and 2005-06 better. But they look ok, I guess...

FINALLY!! An interesting looking base set. HOPEFULLY they'll number them so that you can actually collect the base set. You know, like EVERY base set in EVERY sport. Nothing worse than trying to collect a set that you like and not knowing how many cards are in the set, what you need, no checklist, etc. Just tell put the number on the back! #43 in a base set of 200. Or what-ever! My only concern is what will ITG Ultimate offer that hasn't already been done before or in Superlative? I mean how many Jean Beliveau no logo/floating-head sticker auto cards can you have?

I will take in ITG Ultimate Memorabilia any NHL Logo cards of Roy, Brodeur, Price (and parts of the CHL and AHL logo too). We don't need NHL licence to insert any logo from a jersey on a card, and they did it perfectly on some nice cards. I hope they still have some NHL Logo available to include for their best cards. Also, we can see some NHL logos from other equipement parts, such as pants, helmets stickers, maybe gloves. And why not few great cards featuring Ken Dryden like in Superlative...

I really liked the 04-05 Ultimate Memorabilia base set, but this was one of the complaints I had with it -- no way (apart from the Ultimate Number) to track the order of the base cards. I don't even need them to tell me on the card how many cards total are in the base set, but it would have been nice if each card had their set number on the card. |
