TUTORIAL: HOW TO ADD CARDS TO ORGANIZE
Adding Cards to Your Organize
To begin, you will first need to find and enter the cards you have. Beckett.com has a powerful search function, and it is available on every page you visit on the site. To start your collection, use the large search box at the top of every Beckett.com page and search for the cards using as much of the card data as you know – being careful to spell all words correctly. The more information you enter, the narrower your search results will be. If you are having trouble finding a card, try entering less information to expand your search results. ![]() Say for example, you have a 2006 Bowman Chrome Derek Jeter Blue Refractor card #65 that you want to add to your collection. You could enter “2006 Bowman Chrome Jeter” or “2006 Blue Refractors Jeter” or “2006 Bowman Chrome 65” or just “Jeter 65”. Obviously each search will return different results, but each should allow you to find the card you’re looking for. Let’s search for “2006 Bowman Chrome Jeter” ![]() Here are the results that were returned from our search. Our card is the seventh one on the list. If you have purchased a pricing subscription, Beckett’s book values will be displayed as well. OK we’ve found our card, let’s add it to our collection. You can do this one of two ways. If you have only one card to add, just click the icon with the check mark and plus sign on the far right next to the card you want to add. The other method is to click in the box next to the left of the card we want to add. If you have more than one card from this list that you want to add, you can mark multiple cards. When you have marked all the cards you want to add, click on "Add Selected to Organize" near the upper left hand corner. Using either method will bring up a dialog box that looks like this: ![]() If you already have collections set up (as I do) you can select the collection you want to add it to from the drop down list. If you don’t, simply type the name of your collection in box under "Create a new collection named". When you do this, you will either get a message that says your card was successfully added, or that your card is already in your collection. If it adds successfully, simply close the box and repeat the above to add all your cards. If you get the ‘card is already in your collection’ box, you cannot add the card again. Instead, you will have to go to the collection your card is in and edit the information there. OK – so we added the card to our collection. I chose to add the card to my collection called “Recently Added”. To get to your collections, click on the “organize” tab in the row of tabs across the top of the page. Here is the default view you will see. ![]() The default view is good at giving you basic information about the card. But in order to fully use the organize system, we will want to enter some more data about the cards we have. First, let's add some more data items to our screen. Use the "Layout" button to choose a layout that gives you the data that you need. If none of the predetermined layouts fit your needs, you can customize your own layout using the "Custom Layout" choice and then selecting "Choose Columns" to add/remove and order the columns. Here is the custom layout that I created and use: ![]() On the left you will see a list of all of my collections. I've also added some folders (for example: Baseball - For Trade). This is a way to organize several collections under one folder. For the cards themselves, you can see what collection they are in from the green box under the cards name. You can change the color of the box for each collection if you wish. Or if you don't want to see them at all, select the "Hide Tags" button. The quantity boxes on the right side of my custom layout is where you will need to enter your data. "HAVE" is the total number of this card that you have. On the other hand, maybe you don't have this card, but want to make a trade for it, so you would enter the number that you want under "TRADE FOR". "KEEP" is for your use only and serves as a reminder how many of that card you want to keep. "TRADE AWAY" is the number of this card that you have that you want to trade away. I'm going to move to my "Recently Added" collection by clicking on "Recently Added" in the left column to find the Jeter card we added earlier in the tutorial. Then I'm going to use the column data to note that I HAVE one of this card, and I want to TRADE AWAY this card. This is how it should look: ![]() Congratulations, you've added a card to your organize, and marked it for trade! If you're not interested in trading the card, leave the TRADE AWAY column blank. If you want to sell the card, you will need to change your layout to show the "SELL" and "SELL PRICE" boxes and enter an amount in each. If you dispose of the card, you can select the check box by the card name and choose "Send to Trash". If you want to move it to a different collection, mark the check box and use "Move To" to select the new collection. If you press one of the dark blue "Calculate" buttons near the top right, you can see the total value of cards in that collection if you have purchased a pricing subscription. The icon on the right that looks like two arrows making a circle will duplicate that card if you want to make a second entry of the same card with different data characteristics. You will need to repeat the above process for each card that you want to add to your organize. You can speed up the process by adding multiple cards at once, and using the dark blue "FILL" buttons to fill an entire column with the same data.
