Organizer Column Widths
This may be one of those things that behave differently in different browsers (it was on the old site), so I'll say up front that I'm a Firefox user..... In the organizer, the columns appear to be set to a fixed width with no way for the user to adjust them. For the Collections and Card Descriptions columns, long entries are just truncated at the end of the field. Would be nice to either be able to widen the columns (and even the whole page, since monitors have gotten pretty wide these days) or just allow word wrapping in those fields so we can see the whole description.
In the Collections column, the collection name just overwrites the number in that field in an unreadable mess, and if it's a longer name, it's just truncated. For me, this is an issue with a collection like "Heroes and Prospects 08-09" since the 08-09 part gets lost. (I know I could put in shorter names, but I didn't and I'm used to this way.) In the Card Description column, I don't have the option of entering a shorter name, they are what they are. I also know that if I hover the mouse over a truncated card description, the full description will pop up, but it would simply be easier to allow these descriptions to wrap. I also use firefox. I have discovered a way to modify the length of the fields. To do so you need to select the column in question, IE Card Description. Then all the way to the right of the column, where it adjoins the next column, you need to select that border. Usually you need to be right in the middle for it to work, you will get something that looks like 2 arrows when you are hovering over it. Select it and drag to the left or right. One thing though, this will not auto shrink the other columns, the only ones affected are the two near the column. Hope this helps. Manny PS. I did this in Firefox and in Chrome. Also, there appears to be a minimum column width size. Looks to be around the size of the RC column, because i haven't really been able to shrink that one or any smaller. But i can shrink the value and condition columns that way more of the tags display in the description field. I know I have some cards that are in like 5-6 collections. I'm just picky on how I sort my collections thats all. |

RE: Organizer Column Widths
I agree here. There is not enough screen area allotted for the columns. My monitor is native 1440 and 35-40% of the screen is wasted. Having all that room and not being to avoid "overlap" of text is frustrating. You can't fit all available columns on the screen legibly which leads to cumbersome shifting between layouts to get to the information presented or saved in different columns.

you have to account for the lowest common (column?) denominator
make it too wide, and it become unusable for many users Project Cupid, March 9th: raised 17k+ for cancer research. 60k over the past 4 years

You can then see full descriptions. Also if you use custom layouts and only use a few columns you can see more of the descriptions that way also. |

RE: Organizer Column Widths
Have you noticed how nicely the card description looks on a trade? Why can't that be done in the OPG and ORG? I HATE having to hover over a card description in order to see all of the description. And, it sure makes it hard when you are not able to see all of the tags on a card.

RE: Organizer Column Widths
I've also become frustrated by the fixed [minimum] column as other frameset imposed related limitation with the Organize feature. [Using IE 8 and 9].
In addition to the previously mentioned minimum column width issue, I would like to suggest the following enhancements be made. [1] Dynamic width of Overall Frameset resized when browser width is increased/decreased - The overall fixed size of the main display frame does not increase when increasing the width of the active browser window. Most web-based software [while maintaining min/max] allows users to increase the width of the active browser window to triggering resizing of dynamic frames. The static frame size designed to meet older industry minimums is frustrating and in most cases not necessary. [2] User-Modifiable Frame Width within a Dynamic [or Fixed] Frameset Even within a fixed overall frameset [issue 1], users should have the ability to adjust the width of individual frames within the frameset. For example if they chose to make the left column smaller [decreasing the amount of space to display collection names] the center frame can then be dynamically adjusted to utilize this additional space. Even if the overall frameset [issue 1] is not going to be dynamic, allowing resizing by users of individual frames can accommodate additional space to accommodate additional columns in the main frame. [3] Multiple Line Display for Card Description – As someone pointed out in a previous post, the Trade feature offers views such that regardless of column width, frame size or frameset size, the entire card description [along with attribute tags] is visible by utilizing multiple columns. In the Organize feature, the Card Description is cut-off and attribute tags take up a significant amount of space making it difficult to see the description. When combined with additional issues [see my other postings] of the Organize search function, it can be very difficult to find things when the description is not entirely visible. I should not have to hover over every item to see the entire description. The problem becomes extremely apparent with the number of different variations any one card may have. Variations which can be differentiated by information that cannot be seen. The Attributes would make it easier to find specific variations but that uses an additional column decreasing the description even further. The price can make it easy to distinguish between variations but Price is not a sortable column. An [optional] multi-line display including attribute tags to allow the entire product description to be visible in Organize, as done with the Trade feature, would alleviate some of the frustration caused by other limitations which presently exist in other aspects of the product [issue 3]. Without the ability to have a multi-line display, there needs to be a dynamic or user-modifiable means of increasing ‘real-estate’ space within the main frame. [issues 1,2]. These issues receive a larger focus due to usability issues and limitations with other features of the product [see my other posts]. ![]() My Goalie-Graph Stick: Goalie Count: 7 Goalies Still Needed: 54 Teams Needed: 26 *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* PM me info on upcoming signing events for your team's goalie [just the cute ones ....] |

Thanks for the helpful trick [I hadn't seen the arrow before].
![]() That helps a little but I still think [and hope others agree] that a dynamic or user controlled frame/frameset width and/or multi-line product descriptions will be an overall improvement to the functionality and usability of the product. I like the suggestion someone mentioned earlier about making it appear like the 'trades' view of products.
