Stopped off at the local shoppe today after going to a very sad excuse for a card show to satify my want. I wasn't really big on the idea of a college-themed SPA, but I saw some cards at the show that began changing my mind. I'm so glad it did.

I walked in, and saw only 3 boxes sitting on the counter, and grabbed from the bottom. First pack, an auto. I was cracking, and I saw a pack with an obvious patch card, so I put that aside. But then I pulled another pack looking just like it.... Guy at the shop figured one must be a case hit. So we put that aside as well. Then I pulled a non-jersey auto. Then another. Than another.
Finally you will see the damage below:

So that's already 4 autos, and I haven't opened the 2 possible patches yet...opened the first one..



UGH! Redemption! Now, I'm trying to look this up on UD's website, which seems to be down right now...

hoping the second would be better...

Nice patch, you can see more white on the right if you look at an angle, so it looks from a letter maybe.

Not bad! What do you think of the patch size? That's what I'm worried about since I haven't seen one in person yet...

I think the patch size is small, no question. This may lead to a premium put on multi-color swatches more than usual with this set. Of all I saw at the show I went to, maybe 1 was NOT single color.

Also, from what I've seen, there are also manuctured patch/autos that take the place of these rookies in some boxes, so you're not really garanteed a patch/auto RC per box..

I think it's something of a toss-up =


SPA - more established brand, but it's college not NFL liscensed, but the hits are lower-numbered and autos are on-card.

Panini Plates and Patches - NFL liscense, bigger swatch and better chance for beautiful patches, but much higher-numbered hits and autos are stickers.

Price is almost the same at my lcs...

I like the Starks! Have you ever watched footage of him at Buffalo? He was just a little quicker back then, and his running style reminded me of A.P. Not saying he is as good as Peterson, but the potential is there. I have to disagree on the patch size talks. My mind is telling me that they put smaller patches on these in order to have more multi-colored swatches. That is why you were not seeing many single colors at the show. Nice to get 6 autos in a box though, great stuff!

1 in 3 boxes of SPA are hot boxes and contain 6 autos. Another deal clincher reason to buy the product. Grats

yeah I noticed the patches were a little smaller but at least they're actually college "game-worn" instead of the RPM "event-worn" (NFL I might add) in their other two college products. But I saw a sick Ronnie Brown patch auto on ebay and I'm pretty sure it was NFL patch. But every rookie patch auto I've seen was college jersey
