I sold a Jon Lester rookie on eBay, and have received payment via PayPal. However:
1. The buyers address is not confirmed (which normally would not bother me that much), but....
2. The email address he or she uses for PayPal is not active (I tried writing to him, but the email bounced back saying there was no such address at Yahoo).
The buyer is active in usually lower end items, but does have 100+ feedback. How worried should I be of a chargeback, and should I do something other than send the item (e.g. issue a refund and refuse payment)?

I would send him a message through ebay to see if you can get a confirmation from him for the address. But something tells me that you should just refund and relist

I concur. This is usually my practice unless they get they're address confirmed or agree to choose a different form of payment.

Set your preferences in Paypal to ONLY accept from buyers with a confirmed address.

Yeah, I guess I should have done that in the first place. However, if I refund and relist, I imagine I will be hit with a negative. Perhaps it would be worth the negative?

Paypal offers the same seller protection for some seller (or all sellers, not sure) on shipping to unconfirmed addresses. It used to be that when you got payment from an unconfirmed address it would have the seller "accept" or "deny" payment. In additon, it showed how many unique transactions that particular unconfirmed email has had in the past. If the number is a more than XX (whatever you think i acceptable) then he's used it to buy stuff before (check his feedback history for any indication of problems). I don't think it's a major issue, but you might want inqury about it via ebay messages. Perhaps he's forgotten that an old email is linked to his account, etc.
Still do what you are supposed to do via paypal - send with DC (and signature confirmation if over $250). Also see if that particular payment is covered under their new expanded "seller protection program" by calling or emailing paypal.

Thanks. I don't think it shows the amount of transactions a buyer has been associated with any more. In contact with him in eBay message, he doesn't seem to know about confirming his address. I'm trying to get him to get that address confirmed, but if not I'll probably send the card out anyway with DC and postal insurance (which is what PayPal suggests for unconfirmed addresses).

most of thats true, if you are a powerseller if not the same old rules apply. No confirmed address with dc and the claim they didn't get it, it don't matter you lose 100% of the time even if it says delivered.

Ah, I'm definitely not a PowerSeller, so I guess I have little-to-no protection if I sell. Perhaps signature confirmation would help.
