Has anyone ever gotten "Card Restored" from BGS when its 100% untouched? - floridaboytaz420 - 09-09-2009 08:13 PM OK I have just gotten an email with the results of my very first ever personal grading submission. Now even though I requested only grade if minimum of 8.5 & knew some weren't going to reach that, figured of well, just get the autos graded.

Now thats not my problem. My problem is it is saying that my
2007 UD Black Illustrious Dual Autographs Natural Pearl #RW Hanley Ramirez/Dontrelle Willis #d 1/1
is "Card Restored" and I just can't believe this. For one this set was horrible for getting chipped. For two, I know for sure that I didn't do any touch-ups on it. I sent it the same way I got it, which was in pretty bad shape and was just begging/hoping for a 8.5 & knew it wasn't, but get this crazyness of "Card Restored". I got this from a trusted seller that I have no reason he would screw up 20+ years of business for a measly 1/1 of a flash in pan & future mvp (lol which is which)

I would like everyone to take a look & give their own opinion from this scan if you can see where its "restored". Dings every where. And the scan is kinda blurry & still see this. Wouldn't I "restore" all the spots? As a lil side smack in face, I sent in the same one #d/25 and not only didn't it meet 8.5, they graded the autos an 8. Can't wait to see how ugly that case is gonna be described and looking.

Has anyone else ever had this happen to them? Sorry for the long post, but a lil upset about this. Thanks for your time, have a good one.

Has anyone ever gotten "Card Restored" from BGS when its 100% untouched? - davidaz - 09-09-2009 08:45 PM This hasn't happened to me... but I think that they'll tell you what they spotted when the card comes back. Keep in mind that the seller you bought it from may have missed something and picked it up somewhere else. If there's not much evidence, you could try re-grading and see if it gets pushed through.

And maybe they found something that you missed. It is their job to verify this sort of thing and we expect to find this sort of accuracy when we blindly buy graded cards online.

Tough break though. Has anyone ever gotten "Card Restored" from BGS when its 100% untouched? - livingdedman - 09-12-2009 09:00 AM I just received my submission a few days ago and I had a Stan Mikita RC come back as 1.5, a Tim Horton come back as a 1.5, and a Maurice Richard come back as a 1.5. I wasn't thrilled to say the least. I expected higher on the Mikita and Horton. The Richard had a couple creases so I expected a 1.5, but the other two I thought were better. Then when I took a better look at the cards I could see why they only graded 1.5.

Anyway, what I'm saying is that at first I was upset, but then I look at it like as long as Beckett is always this strict with their grading then it is a good thing. That way you can be sure when you buy a BGS or BVG you know you are getting a card worthy of its grade. So, no doubt there's something wrong with that card and you now know. Knowing is half the battle. Has anyone ever gotten "Card Restored" from BGS when its 100% untouched? - floridaboytaz420 - 09-12-2009 11:52 AM ok I have rcvd the card & this is their verdict. "the card isrecolored at top left front corner". Now I have looked at this cardwith a jewelers eye like them to see what they are talking about alongwith checking the other UD Blacks I have. 3 out of the 7 I have on iswhat is a clear bleed-thru from printing. There is no way these havebeen retouched as one of them I watched get pulled & has been in mysight since then & know I didn't put a marker to it. Plus why would one lil spot be done when the whole card is kinda dinged. Didn't even expect 8.5 just wanted encapsulated. How do I fighttheir decision? Its clearly a printing error. |
