Not these by pieces.
· Forget High End, Forget Low End, simply Middle Tier cards would be best. Nah, just playing. I’ll probably never be able to afford High End products unless this economy miraculously fixes itself, but if we could even it out to where even low end buyers like me could get some really cool stuff, even of 1’s, that’d be great.
· Common vs. Rare Realistically, I’m a collector because I love the sport, the information, and feeling close to a game I’m unfortunately not able to play for a living. I see these people writing about trading when I mostly see people putting stuff on Ebay for ridiculous prices. Just sad. For us real collectors, who can’t afford the higher end stuff, we would like GU and Autos, so don’t make them too exclusive.
· Make rookies either their own set, an insert set, or something to where they’re exclusive enough but at the same time anyone can get them. I wasn’t born into money, I work for what I get and have bills. But just like the previous items, I don’t want to be limited because of my financial situation, it’s unfair. (I know, life isn’t fair. Since it will explain why I am the way I am with my item list, I’m a socialist and don’t find it right that collectors should be treated differently because of their wallet. If a collector wants to save up money to get the higher end stuff, that’s fine. But if I want to collect one of every card, which will never happen, I know, then I want to touch each product.)
· Keep the products limited. I’ll say at most, products. One during the summer to go over the All Star game, Playoffs, and Finals. One that releases a month after the season starts that takes care of most of the trades. The other five, I don’t know. Maybe all just different designs and different colors, I’m not a designer or planner, so…
· I like the idea of dating the jersey card and what happened during that game. For other memorabilia, there was a poster that had good ideas. Maybe a ticket to the closest game too where the person lives, I like the pregame shootaround, maybe a VIP into the locker room, and an exclusive auto, on ANY CARD OF THE COLLECTOR’S CHOICE. Many people base their appreciation on whether or not the company produces good, high end products. I would like to see only a certain number of parallels. Topps has cards in one set from each player /299, /149, /129, /99, /79, /59, /39, /19, /9, /5, /3 and /1. It would be much better with /199, /25, /1, or /99 instead of /199 if it is a limited product. Suggestions for Panini Basketball... - kromeace - 03-22-2009 06:03 AM How about a acetate card like Rookie Threads that covers the patch/jersey piece to prevent tampering with? Or maybe just add a an acetate window covering the material? It would be nice to shut down the con men on Ebay and elsewhere when it comes to this kind of stuff.<br Suggestions for Panini Basketball... - outofthecellar - 03-24-2009 10:42 PM TOO FUNNY..WACKO...Yeah we dont just want their blood stained used. This is just a joke statement!
<br #500 2010 pANINI mICHEAL jORDAN BC BLOOD CARD

KISS DID SELL ALOT OF COMICS WORTH A MINT NOW...DONT RESPOND IM JUST KIDDING AROUND Suggestions for Panini Basketball... - gizmoto1987 - 03-26-2009 03:06 PM Bring back player stats on the back of all cards especially the jersey, jersey/autos. Too often upper deck would just whimp out and put

CONGRATULATIONS!
You have recieved a (player name here) Game Used trading card. On the front of this card is a piece of memorblilia that has been certified to us as having been used in an official NBA game. We hope you enjoy this piece of NBA history, as we keep you as close as you can get!

What as close as I can get! I'ma go pro. Shows what you know. Poor kid just got a card of his favorite player and now his dreams are squashed because he read the back of it. Suggestions for Panini Basketball... - gizmoto1987 - 03-26-2009 03:11 PM How about make your own game-used card of anyone or anything (almost). Such as I send in a picture of my dog and her rubber ball and you all make it into a card. I know it is far fetched (get it) but I still would love this sort of idea to be implemented somewhere in the hobby. Suggestions for Panini Basketball... - xstreaminsanity84 - 03-27-2009 07:52 AM LMAO, that's funny. However, on a serious note, I think you have an idea with the game used and make your own. I remember back in the day when you might get a pamphlet or booklet in a pack and with a little money you could choose the front and back of your card. Now, with GU, it's difficult if it's a letter (Topps Letterman), but for an AU redemption (which redemptions need to go away period) or with regular GU, allow us to pick from two, three, or even four designs and let us "make" the card. Now, I don't know what it takes to make a card, but if we could choose the design but be able to choose from a collection of different colors, that'd be cool too. Call the company and tell them your redemption code. They mail you (Next day preferrably) a booklet with the different designs, picture, and colors, you choose and send it back with your redemption card enclosed. Two weeks later (We wish) you get your card in the mail. This would definitely make PCs more interesting to collect. If it's an AU redemption, might have to wait longer to make sure it gets signed. There's some pretty cool things that can be done to keep collector's interested rather than just charging multiple hundred dollars a box.

And to respond to someone's post earlier, I know that today a company is renowned for how well it creates high quality high end products. However, that's not how it started. That's no longer collecting for everyone, that's collecting for the rich people (or those who don't know how to adequately spend their money). If you want to make High end products, that's fine, but don't make that your bread and butter. I know that's easy for me to say since I'm not the one receiving the kick backs, but something like 4-5 low end products, 3-4 mid tier products, and 2-3 high end products. Allow us more broke people to get into the action too. Suggestions for Panini Basketball... - popjon - 03-29-2009 04:32 AM Throw all your money on a good designer.<br Suggestions for Panini Basketball... - sumrtym - 04-03-2009 05:04 PM Panini,

Please do us all a favor (collectors) and make sure to put out top quality, QC creation, packaging, & shipping of all products as I am tired of spending hundreds of dollars on Hobby boxes that yield nice and valuable cards that are damaged right out of the pack. Donruss has been known for that for quite some time. Please by all means create cards that keep you wanting more, because alot of what I see that is out there now that you have created is rather generic and mildly unattractive. I look forward to doing business with you as long as you can create products that are amazing. You have huge shoes to fill with UD & Topps. Also PLEASE. PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT PACK OUT MILLIONS OF REDEMPTION CARDS!!!

Best Regards,

Sumrtym Suggestions for Panini Basketball... - skoaf - 04-04-2009 02:11 PM Paninni,

First, communication with the hobby is vital. Not with dealers, not with hobby writers, not with superstar sellers (or whatever those folks are called!), but with everyday collectors. Now when I refer to "communication" I DO NOT mean random email or postcards, but direct communication such as a telephone call, or collector workshops troughout the country. Heck, you could even select several run-of-the-mill collectors and sponsor them at the Hawaii show, all expenses paid, and talk face-to-face two weeks from now. The small investment you would make now would pay tremendous dividends to Paninni now and to the collector world for many releases to come and the timing could not be more perfect with your exclusive NBA license.

We, the folks who dig deep into our pockets and budgets to enjoy this hobby, are your lifeblood. In recent years, NBA card purchses are not what they once were and it is not the collectors who are to fault. We will buy product, but not consistently at $500 per pack for what we desire or for $0.50 pack for garbage we leave on hobby store counters. A happy medium must be reached if your latest venture is to be a success. If not, well there are always cartoon stickers!

I am available if you think my suggestion is valid. I love the hobby, but it has kind of past me by the last couple of years. Like Paninni, my hobby interests are in a transition stage. So, if you need me, drop me an email. Hackler knows how to get in touch with me.

Oh, and by the way, don't damage the DLP hobby reputation. Ann and her crew knew how to do things right and I will miss her, both as a friend and a collector. Do it right! |
