You've been answering a few questions lately about submissions here on the boards but have avoided the now 2 page post on the registry.

I collect BGS slabs because BGS slabs are museum quality storage. In talking to a collectibles insurance adjuster, I can get better rates for cards in BGS slabs, because of the quality of the storage device.

I also collect BGS slabs because of the registry. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about the quality of the BGS registry. The quality of the BGS registry is at the BOTTOM of the registries out there. When is the registry going to be fixed?

Why is the quality of the registry so poor? The registry is everything. It helps the long term value of cards in BGS/BVG slabs. Why do PSA slabbed cards routinely sell for more than BGS slabs? Because of the driving force of their registry! The BVG brand expecially could be so much greater if the registry was quality.

How about some answers for the people who are still here supporting BGS/BVG. There's not many of us left and more and more are leaving every day.
The sad part is, I don't think anyone at beckett (that has the ability to fix the registry/website) reads these forums. These forums are monitored / read by moderators (they're probably just volunteers).

We (customers) complained about the registry ever since the new website came about, and beckett to this day has not address or even mentioned any possible remedy.

And it's not just the registry that has gone down hill for beckett. Here are some of my criticisms about beckett:

1) Quality control has gone down a bit in my opinion. Dirt inside the slabs, scratches on the slabs, crooked labels, the way they seal the sleeve as of late (too much space, cards shift downwards). Before the die hard beckett fans come in and say every grading companies have these problems, it doesn't matter about the other companies. Like many people here, I invested in beckett not psa, sgc, gai, etc. I care about beckett and want beckett to fix these problems, not simply overlook them because the other companies have them too.

2) Registry, no need to explain this one, pretty sure every one agrees this is a problem.

3) So-So monthly deal, everybody was expecting a good deal for the new year, and beckett gave us the average $2 off each card deal. I mean it's decent but it's not going to get people to send in 100+ cards to be graded in this economy.

4) Looks like beckett just gave up or something. Nothing really buzzing about beckett these days.

5) Beckett's graded cards have drop in value. Anyone that buys graded cards knows this.

6) Who do we have to punch in the face at beckett for someone to wake up and do something about these probelms?
I 100% agree w/ the first two posters. These issues have existed for 6 months and little has been. BGS please respond to these issues.

The issues w/ the slabs are unacceptable and reflect poorly on the company.

Believe me, we are very aware of the lack of enthusiasm for the new Registry (to put it nicely). It is something we have been aware of since the rollout of the new site, and have been working with the programmers to have the registry work the way the users want.
We do hear you and want to get it corrected. We know it has been a bad transition, and are trying to get it fixed ASAP. I wish I could say that it is going to be up and running by date X, but I can't.
Its not a matter of "fixing" it is a matter of reverting back to a system that we had before. One that is use-able and has all of the qualities of the old registry. I don't even care about all your damn bells and whistles, just something that works and allows you to display and track your graded "BGS" cards.

And as far as you can't give us a date that it will be fixed, well that is because the ******* thing will be done in 2 to 3 years.
I agree with 952melvin. It doesn't matter if the current registry is fixed. It would still be a pain in the neck to navigate. It takes too much time and too many clicks to go from one registry to the next. Right now, we have to 1) type in the name of the set, e.g., "1989 upper deck baseball" into the search box and press Enter, 2) click on "1989 Upper Deck", 3) click on "Grade", and 4) click on "Registry" to see a list of registries. Of course, chances are you'll get the "Sys.WebForms..." error message after a long wait. But, let's say it does work and now you want to see the 2006 Topps Chrome football registries. You then have to 5) type "2006 Topps Chrome football" into the search box and press Enter, 6) click on "2006 Topps Chrome", 7) click on "Grade", and 8 ) click on "Registry". To view one set and then view another, it takes eight steps. Under the old registry, all you had to do was 1) click on "Baseball", 2) click on the name of the set, 3) click on "Football", and 4) click on the name of the set. This is why I've been saying in previous posts that the new registry is too cumbersome to use. It may not be possible to separate the registry from the rest of the site, but it's much too embedded the way it is now.
Aside from wishing that all the bugs would be fixed and that the site would run faster, the dream would be to have a link to the registry right on the top of every page. After clicking on the registry link, there would be links for baseball, basketball, football, golf, hockey, racing, non-sport, etc.. Clicking on a sport would pull up a list of set and player registries for that sport. Once this part is taken care of, you can add all the bells and whistles you want. Adding bells and whistles to the current registry would just be a waste of time, money, and effort.

I think this reply by BGS is BS. For starters, they have a template (their old registry), and second visually piggy-back off either the PSA or SGC registry if you have to---this isn't rocket science---a relational database is not that hard to develop considered the limited amount of tables, queries in a graded card registry. I do not think they are serious in fixing this. About three weeks ago I sent an email notifying them I could point them in the right direction (I know the owner of a company who has designed card registries before)...nothing, no reply, not even a no-thanks. I see the "red flags" when they cannot have a implementation date to have this fixed. I am new to BGS, and I feel sorry for those loyal customers. I cut my losses and decided to use PSA for my modern collection. It's too late for them to win me back, but I do hope they would get it fixed for everyone else.

One thing... When you click the "Beckett grading services" link at the top of the page it takes you to the "old" websites grading area where EVERYTHING works the same as it did before the launch..Besides the REGISTERY..

I mean come on, Beckett told us they have all our old comments and scans from the old registeries (anyone else recall them saying this?) If this were in fact true that means the old registery is still accessable by Beckett.. Beckett why not use the old registery?? Seriously you're still using Everything from pop reports, graded card look up,order status ect.. but the bloodline (registery) was bagged for what???

The new set up is a complete joke in the Hobby, working or not..I have not met a single collector who likes it.. Why do this to your business?? You're loosing customers who are choosing different graders so they can compete in a functioning registery..

A plain and simple fix would be BRING BACK THE OLD REGISTERY
Is this possible??
If not, why is that??

Beckett you say you listen to your customers well please prove it.. It's been months and nothing has changed... We want a registery..without that there's no point for set builders to grade commons ect with you as there is no place to compete let alone display these wonderful collections..

If Registery participants are not important to Beckett please tell us now...that way we're not being lead on to believe something good may actually come someday and we can choose to do our sets or player collections with a company that can meet our needs..

As each day passes somebody somewhere is jumping the fence due to this nonsense..enough is enough..
Good point deez283. If I am going to continue to send in cards to get graded as well as spend thousands of dollars on BGS graded cards on eBay, I expect some affirmation that I am not wasting my time.

Seriously, PSA or SCG must be loving this. Beckett is basically shooting themselves in the foot. Many loyal customers are ready to jump ship (some have already left), and the party line continues to be "PUSH THE NEW WEBSITE" ..... regardless of the fact that it is totally frustrating, bloated, and impractical.

I also agree with melvin952, .... NOBODY WANTS THIS NEW REGISTRY. Why is this so difficult to comprehend? Simply bring back the old one and eveyone will be happy. I'm starting to think that Beckett lost a bet to PSA and in return had to sabotage their own registry.

Does anyone know if Gem Lite Grading has a registry ...... yes, Beckett's registry is THAT bad.
There has been a very easy solution to this problem that would go a LONG way to making 99% of the people happy that has been mentioned many times on this board. Bring back the old registry until something new that works can be implemented.

Beckett could regain a lot of the respect it as lost in the eyes of collectors by saying "Hey, we screwed up, and we realize it. You hate the new registry, so until we can impliment something that works we are bringing back the old one."
