Chase Playoff Predictions - dunnere - 09-12-2018
It is Playoff time, or at least this ridiculous thing that NASCAR calls Playoffs, and that means, what the heck, some predictions.
So, it is four rounds, pick your first four out, second four out, who makes it to Homestead still in it, and the Champion.
First four out:
Austin Dillon
Alex Bowman
Erik Jones
Jimmie Johnson
Second four out:
Denny Hamlin
Joey Logano
Chase Elliott
Aric Almirola
Third four out:
Ryan Blaney
Martin Truex
Kyle Larson
Kurt Busch
So, i have Homestead with these four guys still in it:

I really have no idea who to put out when. I'm sure I'll be wrong about some, but here we go.
1st 4 out - Austin Dillon, Alex Bowman, Aric Almirola, Denny Hamlin
2nd 4 out - Erik Jones, Joey Logano, Kurt Busch, Jimmie Johnson
3rd 4 out - Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, Clint Bowyer, Brad Keselowski

Wishful thinking? I'd love to see Chase win it, but I don't think this is his year. JJ would be my #1 favorite pick to win it, but I don't think he will this year. Rowdy getting a 2nd title would be my #2 favorite pick and I think he has the best chance of anyone. Chase would be #3 and then Larson. These are just the guys I will root for out of the 16 drivers.
Oh, and I'll get to see in-person who the first 4 out will be. I have my tickets for the Roval! I'm sitting between Turns 1 and 8 (both are in the original entrance to Turn 1). Should be tons of action in those 2 turns b/c they are hard left turns at the end of long straightaways.

1st 4 out: Dillon and Hamlin were right. Jones and Johnson weren't predicted before the Chase by me. But I did say Jones would be out before the Roval race happened.
Replace those two with Bowman and Almirola for Round 2. JJ was so close to moving on to Rd. 2 and screwed himself. He should have been happy to get 2nd place and then he'd have been into the next round. He just HAD to push for the win when he didn't need to do so. So bummed about that, BUT it was a fun race to watch live AND on TV after I got home!

Yeah, I am surprised that they didn't take the 2nd place finish. They are so good at seeing the big picture. They need to get a win this year to get that monkey off their back so they can start fresh in Daytona.

Punk-a** Joey is in the Final Four! Will the "Big-3" join him? I think Elliott will make the final four and either Truex or Harvick are out. If Truex is out of the Chase, Joey will be out of the race early! If Harvick is out of the Chase, what happens in the final race then? Does Elliott or KyB become the victor after Joey and Martin duke it out? I can't wait to see what happens in the final 3 races of the season!

If the 78 and 22 are one of the final four I almost think you want to be one of the other two. They could easily take each other out. lol
