I think the moneyball guy is Billy Beene. At least in the movie his was the main man. He's GM of the A's and I think he still is.

That's correct, but Bill James is the inventor or Sabermetrics and most of the statistical categories therein, which is what moneyball is/was based on, so there actually is a connection there.

Also, how do all you baseball fans not know Bill James?! He's at the top of the list as far as most important writers/historians of the game in the last 50 years. Shame on you. Tongue
