Hall of Fame induction day...3 pitchers...Which one was the best? - jeremy7269 - 07-26-2015

This is a hard question for me.

Johnson, Smoltz, or Pedro.

Pedro at his prime. Johnson for a much longer time.

Each in their prime, Pedro was the most dominant but he didn't pitch as long or have as many 200 IP seasons as Johnson or Smoltz.

Smoltz was the best in the playoffs. Whats more impressive is that he almost pitched more innings than Johnson and Martinez in the playoffs combined.

But if I want one guy to pitch for the game of their life give me Johnson. At 6'10 he TOWERS over anyone else on the field and that snarl when he threw was one of the best "war faces" of any pitcher. He struck more people at than Smoltz or Martinez and had 29 eighteen (18) strikeout games with 4 no-nos.

That's a tough one. Pedro. Second highest winning percentage all time excluding dead ball era. Only 2 losing seasons in his career. One was his first year (0-1) and the other was his second to last year (5-6). That's pretty amazing to think about. Johnson may have pitched 4 more years but he also had 6 sub-par seasons scattered throughout his career (not just on his decline).

For me it's pedro, late 90s Pedro In his prime is one of the best....but randy johnson was so dominant for so long and has the cy young hardware advantage

I loved Pedro but I don't think it's close, Randy is one of the best to ever grace the mound.

Pedro put together a pretty dominate run in the late 90's into the early 2000's ...... That 2000 season Wow. The longevity of the Big Unit makes him the best overall to me but keep in mind these cats did this right through the steroid era and that is truly amazing just imagine what these guys would have done verses clean non jacked up players !

I'm a huge Braves fan . . . but I would picked the "Big Unit" w/ 5 Cy Youngs

PEDRO PEDRO PEDRO

He was so dominant it was unbelievable. The Sox were almost guaranteed a good shot at a win when he was on the bump
