looking 4 a card / how Beckett prices??? - lecreccio - 01-14-2015 So I am looking for 2012 tribute superstar swatches blue /50 Tim Lincecum. I have been looking for this card for years now. I missed out on a few when they first came out ( because I was being cheap ) but for years now I haven't seen one on eBay or anywhere else. I was looking up another card from the set today and noticed Beckett has lowered the price on the Lincecum. That's great for me once I finally find one but how did they base their decision to lower the price if there hasn't been one for sale in years? And if there has been sales someone please teach me how to use the Internet so I can find these cards! RE: looking 4 a card / how Beckett prices??? - jacobystealshome - 01-14-2015 the arrows in the ops has bleep to do with bleep. if you clock on the card page, youll see the price change wasnt recent http://www.beckett.com/baseball/2012/topps-tribute-superstar-swatches-blue/tl-tim-lincecum-8544312 and if you go to the set page http://www.beckett.com/baseball/2012/topps-tribute-superstar-swatches-blue/ youll see nothing has changed in it's history so dont trust the arrow however, saying it did: why would the price go down even if you hadnt seen a sale? BECAUSE EBAY ISNT THE ONLY BLEEPING PLACE TO BUY CARDS AND BECKETT GETS MARKET DATA FROM MULTIPLE PLACES, INCLUDING BRICK AND MORTAR STORES additionally, sometimes a player's prices go down in general across the board i cant teach you the internet, but i cant teach you some basic logic RE: looking 4 a card / how Beckett prices??? - StedmanRecon - 01-14-2015 (01-14-2015, 01:24 PM)jacobystealshome Wrote: the arrows in the ops has bleep to do with bleep. if you clock on the card page, youll see the price change wasnt recent... Hey, Jacoby. Teach me some logic, if ya would. Given the following card and set (nothing spectacular) as an example: 2013 Bowman Platinum Mike Trout #2 http://www.beckett.com/baseball/2013/bowman-platinum/2-mike-trout-9314093 2013 Bowman Platinum Set http://www.beckett.com/baseball/2013/bowman-platinum/#hl.rowNum=100 When you say say changes in the history, are you referring to the area under "Recent Price Changes" that is found in the set's page? Or is there a place that I should be able to see price changes on the card page (other than where the up and down arrow would be at the top of the card page)? You say "if you click on the card page you'll see the price change wasn't recent. I picked this card somewhat randomly, but mostly because it was someone I would figure that would have for sure price changes since it has been out. I just don't see anywhere other than up at the top in the "Beckett Real Time Pricing". I do see however, the "Recent Price Changes" area on the set page, which only shows a handful of names (I'm sure the only ones a with achange in price). I think that it is a good deal to show the price change dates, but where can I find a "history" of price changes that shows the price movements for the cards and not just the most recent change. Or is that not even something they show on here? Thanks, man. RE: looking 4 a card / how Beckett prices??? - lecreccio - 01-14-2015 Mr. Jacoby, I saw a down arrow and I think I was justified in believing that beckett lowered the price. You are correct that I didn't look any further than that, but it's because I assumed they were on top of things. I understand EBAY isn't the only place to buy cards and that Beckett gets data from various sources but I always assumed the data would be more across the board, meaning, stores tell them they can't sell a lincecum card. Nobody wants him anymore, so he goes down across the board. but if stores told beckett that they can't sell a 2012 tribute Tim lincecum superstar swatches blue card /50 then could a MOD on this thread please tell those at Beckett to tell one of those stores that I want one!! I will pay full Beckett price! My mother always told me after I was accepted at Yale that I was book smart but not much in the common sense dept. I apologize if I offended you with my joke about the Internet or the question in general. Thanks for your reply. RE: looking 4 a card / how Beckett prices??? - elberson - 01-14-2015 Beckett is using a lot of eBay sales for there pricing now and that just brings the value down. Nobody pays book for cards on eBay (unless new or superstar). RE: looking 4 a card / how Beckett prices??? - Hofcollector - 01-14-2015 why would the price go down even if you hadnt seen a sale? BECAUSE EBAY ISNT THE ONLY BLEEPING PLACE TO BUY CARDS AND BECKETT GETS MARKET DATA FROM MULTIPLE PLACES, INCLUDING BRICK AND MORTAR STORES And there it is ladies and gentleman. RE: looking 4 a card / how Beckett prices??? - mgruber2 - 01-14-2015 I hope you are able to find your Lincecum! Good luck RE: looking 4 a card / how Beckett prices??? - lecreccio - 01-14-2015 (01-14-2015, 05:14 PM)elberson Wrote: Beckett is using a lot of eBay sales for there pricing now and that just brings the value down. RE: looking 4 a card / how Beckett prices??? - Hofcollector - 01-14-2015 That wasn't directed towards you. That was in reference to the offers I get quoting me ebay prices. Basically, they're trying to get everything for dirt cheap while trying to use the price guide for pricing their cards. There's also a good deal of guys trying to use ebay pricing believing that they represent the majority of sales. RE: looking 4 a card / how Beckett prices??? - jacobystealshome - 01-14-2015 i apologize for my overly cranky response. i cringe to see how folks responded to it (i didnt look). not that i dont believe what i said, just wow, what an bleephole way of putting it. blame sleep deprivation seriously, my apologies in how i responded. hope folks didnt take offense but seriously: the arrows in the opg dont actually correspond to anything. frankly, i think they are completely wrong right now. |
