2014 Topps - fgarvis - 01-25-2014

How does everyone feel about this launch? I'm having trouble getting excited for it. My LCS is pushing it but I'm not really on board. Thoughts?

Totally into it, and ready for the new season! The first Topps series of the year is always something I look forward to seeing!
Is this release date earlier than last year? I don't ever remember watching the Super Bowl while collating my baseball cards!

I'm glad that the product is almost here. It means baseball season is almost here! However my product is comes out later.

Always excited about Topps flagship! It pretty much releases last week of January each year. I think Topps stepped it up a notch this year....will have to see how the cards look in person. My LCS charges $30-$40 per Jumbo and $25-$30 per hobby box more than on-line, and though I understand the economics, just can't justify supporting them at those prices.

Agreed. I have one very cool LCS a few cities away that goes $5 above online prices as they fluctuate which is amazing... If only it weren't an hour drive!

The local one right next to work is the typical over-charging store.

That's how stores work. I don't mind spending a little extra and getting now rather than 3 business days later. If we didn't, soon they wouldn't exist!

Got a blaster of 2013 BC got a Freddie Freeman blue /250 an Addison Russell RTTR mini and a Mac Williamson auto. Good little box. I don't know what the prices are gonna be for the 2014 Topps but I'm gonna watch a few get busted by the other guys there before I buy one.
Gagne are you collecting Puig autos?

True and I love my LCS...but 25% to 33% higher? I'll wait the 3 days....not a flipper so it doesn't matter.

Agreed!
I don't know what they need to do to compete, but I wouldn't overpay that much either .... Plus sales tax! I think blowout was $85 per Jumbo and free shipping over $150. Ordered 2 Jumbos and will be ripping into them as soon as I can. Meanwhile, Walmart and Target haven't 'early released' anything yet. Once they do, A blaster or 2 will get me acquainted with the product line until I get my delivery.

If it doesn't impress me I'll just relieve my LCS of his bow of bowman draft and Topps chrome he has for sale Smile
