Fresh from mr google

Longevity in a sports career is not always easy when you consider injuries and other factors which affect the length of a career. To remain in the league for a number of years you must stay healthy and perform without getting burnt out and losing your love for the game. Here is a list of the top 10 players that have played the most seasons in Major League Baseball.
10. Steve Carlton- Carlton played baseball from 1965-1988 and finished his career after 24 years professionally. Carlton had a love for the game that kept him playing for over two decades.

9. Eddie Collins- Collins played 25 seasons professionally before hanging up his cleats in 1930. Collins began his career in 1906.

8. Bobby Wallace- Wallace began his career in 1894 and would continue to play into the next century before finally retiring after 25 seasons in 1918.

7. Jim Koat- Koat played in 3 different decades and accomplished a lot during his career. Koat began his career in 1959 and retired after 25 seasons in 1983.

6. Charlie Hough- Hough also played 25 seasons during his career and played professionally from 1970-1994.

5. Rickey Henderson- Rickey was a fan favorite and loved playing baseball. Rickey began his MLB career in 1979 and was still stealing bases when he retired in 2003 after 25 seasons. Rickey was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame in 2009. Rickey has said he wants to become the first player to play a game after being inducted into the hall. So it's possible we haven't seen the last of Rickey Henderson.

4. Tommy John- John played a lengthy career despite numerous injuries. John began his career in 1963 and continued to play until he retired 26 years later in 1989.

3. Deacon Mcguire- Deacon is tied with Tommy John for the 3rd spot in the top 10 and played a lengthy career before retiring after 26 seasons. Deacon began his career in 1884 and didn't retire until 1912.

2. Nolan Ryan- Ryan played 27 seasons during his career and remained a dominating pitcher for many years. Ryan won numerous Cy Young awards and didn't retire until 1993 after beginning his career in 1966.

1. Cap Anson- Anson is a name you probably haven't heard but had a long career in Major League Baseball. Anson is tied with Ryan for the most seasons played in MLB. Anson began his career in 1871 and finally retired after 27 seasons in 1897.
