Let's see your best odd ball cards - uvaspina - 12-09-2012 04:49 PM I was browsing the bay and was reminded of those Cal Ripken thumbprint cards that they had back in the early 90s. Thought I'd ask you guys what your favorite "odd ball" cards have been over the years. I'm relatively new to the hobby, so I'd be curious to see what I missed over the years. What's your favorite novelty card/set? RE: Let's see your best odd ball cards - phreakyq - 12-09-2012 06:54 PM im new as well, but i want to see a MLB tattoos set, those would make for some great back card reading. RE: Let's see your best odd ball cards - sonnyday - 12-09-2012 07:52 PM Not baseball, but I liked the 1997 first and ten chip shots that were poker chips in each pack. Also for basketball I love the dunk n go nuts cards. Back in 1986, there were tattoo cards put out by Topps. RE: Let's see your best odd ball cards - Ziveus101 - 12-11-2012 09:22 AM 2 of my favorite odd-ball sets would be: ![]() *1997 Upper Deck SP Special FX Die-Cuts I've only got an Andy Pettitte card out of this 47 card set, but boy do these cards look cool. The way the card shines and the 3D picture in the center moves is epic IMO. *2009~2012 Topps Sega Card Gen Yes, yes, I know I've been shoving these cards down people's throats since I first encountered this product and that the 2012 set is pretty much an established set. But I'll keep preaching about this product and getting on peoples nerves until I get at least 10k for 50% of my entire collection at a card show. Honorable Mentions:
RE: Let's see your best odd ball cards - nolan5000 - 12-11-2012 09:32 AM When I think of oddball, I think of unlicensed. You know, like Wayne's Ryan/Ventura fight card. Quite a few of the ones on here so far are licensed cards. (12-11-2012 09:32 AM)nolan5000 Wrote: When I think of oddball, I think of unlicensed. You know, like Wayne's Ryan/Ventura fight card. I'm not complaining for all I know they are. Living in Canada I don't see Topps of that era as odd, not even when I was a kid. I mean to me that was just the norm growing up. RE: Let's see your best odd ball cards - nolan5000 - 12-11-2012 03:24 PM No. I don't think O-Pee-Chee is oddball. Like I said above, I count oddball as cards that Beckett won't Grade. |
