why NHL players must be in a lineup to have a RC card - jarrett222 - 03-10-2012

just wonder why in the early '90 world junior were considered RC cards, IN baseball and Football players don't have to be in a lineup sheet to have their rookie cards, why is it different in the NHL.?

thanks for the answer!

it changed in the 00's for the NHL. for a goalie has to suit up as a back up

the cutoff date is all star game for the player... so if the rookie suits up for a game now, he might have a rookie card next year... hope that helps

wow thank you I know for the goalie who is name on the line can have a RC like Matt Zaba last year and he never play a single seconde, but don't know about the deadline All Stars game for rookies.

im sure its an agreement between the NHLPA, Junior, the NHL, and the card manufacturers...
if they got the players prior to suiting up in the NHL they would probably have to sign deals with whoever ITG has their deal with for their Prospects in their boxes

and that would cost more $$$
