I know Cardboard fan knows this...I think it has something to do if they have had MLB experience or not

Thanks for the responses, I'm asking because I'm trying to put together a collection of RCs and wanted to make sure I had the actual RC and not a 2nd year card. It's easier back in the day because all you had to worry about was XRC, but now it's tougher.

I thought in order to be a RC they had to have so many AB/IP in the majors the year it was released, but I may be wrong. It was that or had to be on a 40 man roster maybe. I know its something like that.

the (RC) was used for guys who were caught in between when the rule when effect in 2006

If that is the case why are there (RC) in 2008, 2009, and 2010 as well.

because those guys had an RC back sometime before 06 and now they're up in the bigs so they have an (RC)
good example is Josh Hamilton. his real RC is from 1999

Not to go into the long drawn out details as to why (which were somewhat touched on above) but if you are looking to collect exclusively RC's then all you have to do is look them up in the OPG as they will be listed as RC instead of (RC) anything marked as RC is a true 1st year licensed RC
