This isn't just because I'm biased, but "The Microwave" Vinnie Johnson should be at least top 3 on EVERYONE'S list.

Hmmmm.... three come to mind. Detlef Schrempf who won the award two years in a row with indiana, Jalen Rose who won the award the year after winning the NBA's most improved or Sam Jones who won multiple championships with the 1960's Celtics as a sixth man. I'd go with Sam....
