Miami U scandal - shezdoni - 08-19-2011

Well, since this hasn't been posted yet, let's hear your thoughts on the Miami U scandal, and the possibility of it receiving the "Death Penalty" from the NCAA (not just FB, but all sports at Miami U).

It happens at every college, they just are magnifiying this one. dude was down for 20 years in jail, has nothing better to do than rat people out.
why shouldnt college players have access to some sort of benefits when they play for schools that get millions of profit off of them

It's not a matter of, Why shouldn't they be able to benefit, it's a matter of, because it's against the rules! I'm all for them being compensated in some way, but as of right now, they should be punished for breaking the rules.

They are compensated, most of them get a free ride at school, while the other students have to pay for their education which cost what these day $40,000 to $100,000, and end up owing money for the rest of their lives.

RE: Miami U scandal - supbullcoc - 08-19-2011

education my *****....im sorry but half of these big name college players dont care about their aducation. they want to make the big money in the pros and barely squeak through their classes to be eligable.

if you want to look at it that way they are already getting paid benefits because they are good at sports and can make the program alot of money so the scholarship is crap too

Whoever broke the rules should be punished... If the U knew about it, the U should be punished. The players know the consequences of their actions if they take the money and/or extra benefits offered. I'm not saying, I don't think they are entitled to something, I'm saying that they still broke the rules and should be punished for it. What this really does is show how messed up the NCAA is, the schools who follow the rules are probably the ones that aren't doing as well. Gotta bring it back to a level playing field.

RE: Miami U scandal - supbullcoc - 08-19-2011

EXACTLY. the system is broken for the NCAA. 100% agree

RE: Miami U scandal - biglump007 - 08-19-2011

Put a kid through college out of your own pocket and tell me then these guys aren't compensated. Simple fact of the matter is NCAA football is nothing more than minor league baseball. The colleges get their money and in return the players get an education and get to be showcased to the country and all the NFL scouts.
