I think this fourm is asking if they could remove the rule for Beckett. I would trust a guy I've done trades with on here a whole lot more than some guy on the bay.

I have always been behind the idea of a box break/case break. I still stand behind it. However, in light of the current scam situation I will say the risk is there and more so on deals like these then on trades.

There would have to be a TRUSTED party in charge and a way to track everything. Live breaks, etc. This may just be more to add to the work Beckett already has to do.

If someone were to get a solid set-up I'd step up and run such a thing. However, having ran one that didn't go as smooth as I had hoped, it would have to be very well planned out and executed.

If beckett won't allow it why not just get a group of close guys and do a private break. Maybe have the one who breaks do it live. I think eveyone should be comfortable with the person who breaks. I watch alot of these breaks on youtube. My buddies friend does them. Ive always wanted to get in on one. Even the mystery packs sound cool. Use a site like Random.org to pick out the spots and such.

I think the original post was on point. -there could be a way to do this through a sanctioned party. -what Beckett understandably wants to avoid is having their boards filled with box break solicitations and updates that are only of interest to a half dozen people. They should create a subsection through marketplace that's 100% legit and separate from the rest of the boards.

I don't see the problem with it, most of us know each other here and we all have highly reputable feedback. Anybody knows what they are getting into with the risk of not pulling anything.

What did not work in your experience, dbroockerd? Knowing what to avoid and prevent in the future will help make things like this happen successfully.

it's not whether or not folks here are trustworthy or trust each other: it's a legal liability issue for beckett

Simply saying that it can be scammed is nonsense because just about anything can be scammed in some way, shape, or form just like trading on here.

Jakewhatshisnuts scammed a bunch of people in trades and I'm pretty sure nobody is going after Beckett for it. As a matter of fact, it's in their TOS that they are not accountable for anything that goes on with trades. Put the language out there that Beckett is not accountable for anything having to do with group breaks (in the TOS) and let the users decide if they want to take part. If they get burned, that's on them, and they agreed to that.

I have taken part in one of these before. I am telling you, even with the "random.org" and "live" Youtube or blogtv nonsense, it is are waaaaayy to easy to hide pulls. You have all pulled something nice before I am sure and how many times do you have to flip through the whole pack to find it, never. You see it as soo as you open the wrapper. Remember 2010 Topps chrome and how it was loaded with hot rookie autos? Strasburg, Hyward, Boesch, A Jax, Stanton, Castro, Santana heck even Ike Davis and Matsuz(?).

First off the only things of color were blue refractors, no reds, no golds, and there were even more possible that year because of the insert chrome refractors(chicle and 206 I think) and none of them were autos. It is not possible to not come up with a single gold or red refractor out of probably 30 boxes.

And someone tried to tell these poor people (not me, I had the Yankees and Phillies and got my nova) that out of three cases not a single auto of the above mentioned players was pulled. NO FING WAY!!!
I flat out refuse to believe that. This guy ripped all those people off and probably took some stuff from me too like colored refractors but I had nothing to complain about as I got base and Refractor versions of Ivan Nova and two base Russo autos and about 50 blues, lol. More than my moneys worth. I actually traded a card for the yankees spot, which was also a little shady on the box breakers part but was I supposed to say NO to a yankees spot in a 3 case group break? Yeah right.

This break was run on a forum by THE premier member of the site. The only member who was "trusted" to hold the group breaks.

Although, on the other hand I have seen many of these go very well for my self, depending on the teams I had, and the people involved, so you win some and loose some I guess. Lucky for me, I still kind of won on one everyone else lost.

If becket is not considering trading here a liability, then I just dont know how any of this group break stuff would be either. If you want to do one so bad, do it. Just dont advertise it here on the boards. If you get yourself a little group together through PMs, work things out through PMs, and post links to the break itself through PMs then how is anyone supposed to even know? How many years did people sell "around the system" before all this wild west nonsense began with being able to sell constantly with no fees demanding paypal gift on the message boards? I bought all kinds of stuff from people I trusted this way just to save them the fees, and once the fees start up again, I am sure many will resort back to dealing things this way.
