your thoughts .....
what would you prefer as a collector Smile

Hobby boxes of old where you would get 1-2 RC's (that would hold their BV longterm) and maybe the chance of getting a decent insert or Sp ..... and a really "hot box" would contain ONE patch card or auto Wink

or .....

the Hobby boxes of today that come loaded with RC's, memorabilia, autos, patches etc. etc. where the base RC's have little value and inserts and/or SP's are in every pack.

Myself I prefer the first ..... finding a refractor used to be a big deal, a #d insert of a popular player was always the talk of the LCS, and a mem card or auto was the "case hit".

Card values always held their own, if you wanted that one RC of your favorite player you had to spend large, and just the thought of finding a auto'd RC was a big deal in itself Smile

RE: your thoughts .....
I prefer the first by a wide margin. The market is saturated with single jersey pieces and they are worth very little now. That leads to rookies and inserts being worth even less, which ruins all the fun. You shouldnt have to pull a patch auto of a superstar to get your moneys worth.

Man, I really like the autos. But I can see what you are saying, especially about these jersey pieces. All I want are games used ones, not these event used ones like we saw on another post regarding the Rookie Premiere Photo Shoot. Way to many of those type of jerseys. A lot of people want those "sick" looking patches and don't care if it was worn or not. I don't know if can ever go back to old way, but a movement back in that direction, I would be in favor of.

well said Smile

I remember the day when if you pulled the RC out of the box at the LCS you got the "hit" and everyone tried to trade anything and everything for it, now you pull a second string wide recievers RC auto and everyone gives you condolences for getting a crappy hit Sad

this has really perplexed me of late and now that I see 2011 cards with RC auto print runs in the 1,500's why do they even bother to make base RC's anymore Sad
