X-mas in JULY!!!!

Count me in, if that is ok!!!!

Nim and James

I see you guys picked up Mr. Chatwood in the Draft....... Quality Kid. I coached against him four -5 years ago as a 13/14 y.o, and even then, you knew he would be something special, and have a good shot at the Bigs!!!

Craig!!!!

Your team , my friend, is the lucky recipient of one of the most special Kids I ever had the oppourtinity to Coach. with the 6th pick in the Draft the Marlins picked My Boy KYLE SKIPWORTH!!!!!!!!! one of the most well rounded "Kids" I have ever met. I knew Kyle would make the Bigs as a 11 year old, the first time I ever saw him play, he was so far advanced over the other kids. I knew he would make it, but I just didn't know when.... out of High School, or after College. What an Exciting week for Kyle. He was named Gatorades National Baseball Player of the year on Tuesday, and was Drafted by the Marlins today!!!!! Real Proud of Kyle..

I have one more kid from the Same team, Still waiting to be Drafted, But I think he is going to go to SDSU and Play for TOny Gwynn, and see if he can improve his Draft Rank. The Padres contacted his parents, and were interested in Matt as a Hitter, in the later rounds, but Matt is a Pitcher, who can Hit...... At 17 he is 6'7", and about 220, and he throws Smoke, so he may go to School. I wish him the best. I talked to him last night, and he was really nervious. I told him not to be, it would happen, and that he worked hard to get to this point, and to relax.................. He Told me he wasn't nervious about the Draft, but about having to buy Coach Ray and COach Dave Season tickets to his games........... My Coach and I used to tease Matt about having to buy us Season Seats behind home Plate when He made the bigs......Big Grin Big Grin

Peace Y'all
Dave

Funny story.Ok so I come home and let dog out in the old golf course behind my house & get him run like I do every day. After 5 minutes I notice he comes back with something in his mouth-again nothing unusual but it is a bra...??? SO I walk down the hill and in the clump of trees so 2 people pread out on blanket going at it-this is like 4:30! So I get the bra from dog to take it back over by them then of course he runs over there to interupt them long enough to get their attention I give her bra & gather dog and return home and they go right back at it...???

Happy Friday everyone. Glad to see so many check in.

OC- No packs in two months? hmm.... Big Grin

I got a great package from Philly Dave yesterday... He must have known Chipper was going to hit number 400 because Dave sent a very shiny Spectrum jersey of Chipper /50. Thanks Dave, that made my day!

I'm thinking I'm going to take the young lady to the zoo tomorrow, but it's supposed to be dang near 100 so I may spend some time today rethinking my plans.

When you say old golf course, does that mean it is no longer a golf course? If it is an active golf course, that is my idea of playing the back nine!!! Thanks for putting a smile on my face this morning.

Have a great Friday everyone.

Good MAENing TCs:

Nyla, be sure to tell Phil to hang in there. I always found that dark rooms, cool temperatures and the ability to think I'm somewhere neat helps. I get terrible migraines and it puts me to bed. I don't know about chemically-induced migraines, but the recurrent kind is difficult to deal with. I hope he does well, and gets well soon. Give him a hug for me.

On a different note, I think I saw the ballgame of the year last night in DC. It was an incredible game. Parisi gets us down seven runs, we come back, Mark Worrell (rookie reliever just called up) hits a three run homer. Joe Mather his a home run to put the cards up, then Dukes hits a two-run homer to dead center in the bottom of the 10th to win it for the Nationals. I felt bad for Franklin for serving it up, but he had closed the day game too.

I think Tony LaRussa didn't even plan to win that game, leaving Parisi in for four innings of schlacking. Either team could have won it, it was an exciting game, and for once, good hitting beat good pitching.

An asside. I had two really nice baseballs to get auto'd. The Lovely Linda got Chris Perez, but Schmaker refused to sign for adults. Later in this game, a little boy about 8 or 9, fell on the stairs and spilled his Ice Cream Sundre all over the place, plus he barked his knee. He was crying, his mom was panicked, and they even called the paramedics. I was sitting two seats from where the kid was hurt, embarrassed and trying hard not to cry. So I reached in my bag for this really nice MLB ball and talked to him, and gave him the ball. He got something else to think about. Bottom line was that the young man was as happy as he could be with the ball, the usher taking care of him was delighted, the ER guys were happy to see him feeling a little better, and his mom got him another $$$$ ice cream. The kid thanked me, the usher thanked me, and the ER guys thought it was super. The Mom didn't say anything, but kinda pushed me aside. I know she was worried about this kid talking to this old guy, but I loved how the kid kept looking at the ball, and turning it over, and over. Maybe it was a blessing for me to make up from some of my past sins.

All in all, it was a great game. Even if the Redbirds lost.

Best to all,
Thom
