Therion (The Sanguinary Strosfan)

Astros Tier II checking in.

I am taking one of my engineering classes online this summer and had a test last night. It was supposed to give two hours, but some error in the system gave me 18 minutes to take the test.

I still managed to pull off a 33%.

I e-mailed the teacher and got this response: "I do not reset online tests unless you had a medical emergency." I guess next time I'll just shoot myself in the foot so I can get a reasonable amount of time.

Billy,
That is ridiculous. The professor should be able to see how long you were online with the test. I guess I won't be pursuing that online Masters degree from Capella (they are advertising right now on the screen!).

Guys, received a PM from Greg G., our Nationals collector for the month of June. He is realizing that being part of this group takes more time than he has to share at this moment. He has not mailed to anyone, but has promised to make good to anyone that might have gone ahead and sent to him. He might give us a try later on if things change and the Nats are available.

Nimster, please update your site with this info. Thanks.

Wayne

PS Anyone ever go to Red Robin? Just got back from lunch there. Had a tremendous Burger. I would highly recommend them if you are into gourmet burgers.

Jays checking in!

THOM!! Happy Belated Birthday!!!!

Quite a few B-day's this month, mine is on the 19th.

Wayne- We used to frequent the Red Robins back in Vancouver. Awesome burgers! Great fries, buffalo wings are good too.

Work has been busy as usual. I've had some bumps on the last few projects, it seems that there is some inherent friction between Geologists and Engineers. I guess it is the norm in the oil industry. My last project was cut short because the Field Engineers on location didn't follow my recommendations close enough. Since I am the "new guy" (and a geologist too) it was implied that my team was to blame for the resulting train wreck. No big deal. All I can do is to stay on top of my duties and hopefully work on getting the two groups to work as a team.

I'd like to open up the Jays Tier 1 position since I haven't been able to find someone interested. I'm not sure if Buddy has changed his mind on taking over the T1 slot. I'd still like to be involved in the group, although I probably won't spend as much time on the board as I did when I worked out in the field. I'm slowly getting some stock together so that I can start sorting some cards soon.

I wanted to THANK two people for mailers received-

Dan Preas- Sent me 4 team bags a couple of weeks ago. They came while I was on vacation. Holy hockey pucks Batman! Plenty of hockey, lots of Canucks in there that include some of my favorite Canucks. I even saw a McIver UD Young Gun!! Sweet. To boot there were many cool Jays including a Vernon Wells GU, plenty of Bowman. I still have to sort through them. Many Thanks Dan!!

Randy- WooHaaa! Cards from the Bowman break. Pretty stoked to see an Aaron Mathews Xfractor, several Blue base and a Kevin Ahrens Auto!!! Thanks again Randy for the break!

Pretty rainy here, first rain we have had in a long time. Bummer is that a T-Storm on the weekend fried my hard-drive at home. I brought it to work to see if I can slave it to a computer here and see if I can recover any data. We ended up ordering a Dell Inspiron 2Gb ram, 250 GB HD etc, I'm never touching HP again....

Hope all is well with everyone!

Good MAENING everyone!

Checking in for July. While I'm here, I want to say thanks for a...

MAILDAY!

Friday, I received a mailer from Barry with a team bag full of Twins. The new one of the bunch was a 2006 Topps Chrome Joe Mauer refractor. Thanks!

Yesterday, I received a mailer from Tony C. He sent three team bags of Twins, including 1994, 1996 and 1997 Upper Deck, and various other. There were 15 new cards in the bunch.

I also want to say thanks again to Aaron for his box. I finally went through it and there is lots of good stuff for you all. Aaron also sent me an awesome card to show off. Thanks!

With the new month, I will have an update in my contest right away.

Talk with you all later.

Aarne,
It pained me to do it, but I have opened up the Blue Jays on page one. As one of the original members, you certainly have earned the priviledge of being an Emeritus Member like Thom, Dom, and Andrew (I am sure I am missing some others). As we told Dave, we are like Hotel California....You may check out, but never leave!

PS Tony, I like the sig!

Thanks Wayne. It is only fair to the group, active participation both on the board and by mail is important. I just haven't been able to send out cards in a looong time and that doesn't really sit too well with me. I didn't want to end up in the "Wall of Shame" As time (and money) allow I will have mailers out to everyone.

I thought that slogan was from the Twilight Zone? Tongue

In the last month, MYCPhillie Dave has made the largest jump. I almost have all of the thank you prizes set for everyone who has sent. After card #8,000 I will have start searching for bigger prizes for the top three. The contest is still close. (Hopefully, I can make it a Christmas in July for everyone.)

A more detailed leaderboard can be found at the link in my sig. With less than 100 cards to go, I will be updating the totals weekly.

Talk with you all later.

Aarne very sad to see you leave and hope things get better for you! Don't be a stranger! And if Buddy takes the Tier I spot you should be his Tier II! That would be awesome!

Checking in...

Almost have my x-mas in July all set, if the other piece comes in soon it'll be out this weekend. I think the "victim" shall be pleased with it all Big Grin

Also wanted to share my latest GU pickup, from fri. I don't have them in hand yet but should have them tomorrow.

Hanley Ramirez & Ryan Zimmerman

My g/f also picked up a nice GU Jeff Clement bat for under $100 from earlier this year used in the yankees series in NY.

I also found some other GU stuff along my travels, does anyone have any players on their current team they despise? lol, I'd rather not send some GU item of a player you can't stand.

Wayne, I got your message and will reply when I have some time.
