this movie looks awesome. i have the card at the center of the movie. anyone think the one dealer represents mr. mint?
diminished capacity trailer
Wow, that looks really really good! Great cast, and IFC distributes a lot of gems.
From the trailer, it seems to paint a pretty negative portrait of dealers / obsessive collectors though. I guess you gotta go into with a sense of levity and not get offended by the "hobby crazies" angle it takes.
This movie has basically everything I could like in a movie. Alan Alda, Chicago, The Cubbies, and baseball cards!
wow, that movie looks pretty good, Alda is a great actor
I think it looks horrible. I'll pass on this one.
This looks great! Matthew Broderick, Alan Alda, set in Chicago, and baseball cards at the center of the story would be great plenty for me. But having the lovely Virginia Madsen, who I've had a thing for since her shower scene in Creator and who has aged like the fine wine she consumed in Sideways makes it a slam dunk!
I know it's a movie. I know it's a movie.
But why on earth was that card still in a penny sleeve even after someone told them it was worth thousands of dollars?! Gah!
I know it's to add to the drama and tug at the heartstrings of collectors (funny how we react to things that actually matter to us -- like the condition of a precious card) but it still kills me. And then to see them passing it around like it's some kid's high school photo ...
The movie looks lame, but they obviously did their research on the hobby! This got a laugh out of me.

Definitely Mr. Mint, but I think they must have let HIM choose who HE wanted to portray him. Hahaha.
I'd rather watch "The Chronicles of Narnia" than this junk.
Anybody want to guess it's rating on IMDB after release? Above/under 5.0?
