are some subgrades weighted more then others when it comes down to a final grade?  a couple of cards that i graded for my 2000-01 sp authentic future watch set,  don't seem right i have a couple of cards that's graded bgs 9.5 and if you divide out the grade should be a bgs 9 and i have a couple of bgs 9's that if you divide it out should be 9.5's.  i don't get it?  thanks.
They dont average.

The general guidelines are:
You will rarely get 0.5 higher than the lowest subgrade, unless we are talking 10, 10, 10, 1.  That would be a 2.  But a 10, 10, 10, 8, would probably be 8.5.

Second, you will never get higher than the second lowest subgrade.  So a 10, 10, 8, 8, is an 8.

Yes, Some subgrades are weighted more than others...

Centering and corners is weighed the most...
then edges
then surface...
The final grade is not determind simply by dividing though...

I'd love to see how a 10x3 w/ an 8 would grade.  I'm guessing where the 10's would fall it might have a chance at a 9.

If the 8 was on surface it would be a 9
to go up a full grade 3 subgrades need to be 1.5 or more than the lowest subgrade...

I've seen a few 10-10-10-8.5 surface with overall grade of gem mint....

Also I've seen cards 2 full grades above the lowest subgrade

Without too much detail, Deez has it summed up.  While what was stated is a general rule, there are exceptions to the rules.

To the OP, yes, different sub grades carry different weight.
