im trying to complete a graded set (86 fleer)... some of my commons i could only find graded by PSA.. 8's, 8.5's and 9's.... is it worth it to cross them over to BGS to have an all BGS graded set?? i know its going to be WAY expensive to do, but they have been hard to find already graded by BGS. i like the extra protection of the BGS slabs plus i know they usually sell for higher even with the same numbered grade...
do PSA's ALWAYS get lower grades when crossed over to BGS?? do they ever stay the same or maybe even get higher number grades??
thanks for any info and opinions!

No, its not always. I have never done crossovers, but from what I have heard they grade pretty similarly (on aggregate) except for with regards for centering. PSA tends to be a little more lenient.

I have always said that if Beckett's labels and subgrades were combined with PSA's slabs, it would be the ideal graded card slab.
If Beckett's slabs were flimsier they would do this ( tab the pic to see the video),,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I myself would love less weighter slabs at the same strength but they probably would cost more,,,,

Interesting Jeff... I would like to see a demonstration video with a BGS slab... to prove to the newer subscribers that they ARE superior...

Yea I agree with pwskelly. I'm a complete noob to beckett message boards but have been collecting for a long time. Mostly graded rc's and my home baseball team(Life long White Sox fan,not a 2005 bandwagon fan). Anyway I definitely prefer BGS cases over every other third party grading company. I have many RC's that are PSA's ,mostly 9's and 10's. I've always felt the cases from BGS were better overall, even though they were bulkier which I didn't mind. They are more sturdy, tamper proof, better looking IMO and the card doesn't move at all. With my PSA's I've noticed they move around a bit. I am sure if you asked any collector they would prefer a case that keeps the card from moving, but to each his own.
Nowadays any card I purchase is ALMOST always a BGS graded card. I say almost because if I can't find one with the grade I'm looking for, I'll occasionally settle for a PSA. Also this goes for vintage . The majority of vintage are in PSA cases, but I'm only going off of what I've seen on different auction sites/trading sites.

I'm actually doing the same thing with 1997 finest football refractors, there are a TON of PSA out there that I'm going to have to send in as well. I just feel like the cards all look better in BGS cases, the problem is that with my set in 1997 PSA was all the rage.
I'm sure we are not alone! Now with the Oct special I am at a loss as to what to do. It will cost waaaay to much to cross over 25 cards, so my only other option is to crack them myself and send them in "raw"...
