Next week, the 3rd round of the UEFA Champions League kicks off. The significance of this is that this is the 1st round that teams from the Big 3 European leagues (Spain, England, and Italy)compete. So the questions is, will there be any major upsets with the representatives of these leagues as none face one another?? The teams are Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Arsenal, Fiorentina, and Juventus. I think all will make it through to the group stages. This round is tricky because most of these clubs have only played pre-season football. They only have to look at Rangers as a reminder of the small club upset.
I am a huge fan of the Toon but I don't have to tell anyone that you never know what team will show up week to week, never mind season to season. With a healthy Newcastle squad a top five finish may be possible. If any of our fragile strikers go down we could be relegated! I am looking forward to a healthy Damien Duff-he is a treat to watch when he goes down the wing.
Does anyone else collect vintage football (soccer) cards?
Just to let everyone know that tomorrow August 13 Champions League Football will be on ESPN2 at 2:30 EST . It will be FC Twente v Arsenal FC. Fabregas will be out of action for this one with an injury.
Well Arsenal cruised with a solid 4-0 victory after a horrific game against Fulham over the weekend. Liverpool had a huge scare winning in extra time 1-0. The draws for the group stages take place on Thursday morning.
Wow, it is great to be an Arsenal fan. The semi-final is set. We have Arsenal v. Manchester United on one side and Chelsea v. Barcelona. The matchups will provide exciting football. I can't wait..
