I don't recall Topps ever issuing production numbers until the 1993 Finest product. If that is the case then the number is just a guess. I wouldn't be suprised if the number exceeded 50,000. Now if you are talking Topps Tiffany (the glossy version) then I believe there were 5000 sets produced.

They probably never released total production numbers on a lot of the stuff pre 1995 because they still have the printing presses going on some of that stuff from the late 1980's in to the early 1990's:lol: .

I don't remember Topps actually stating the number on 1993 Finest. I thought it was just rumored to be in the neighborhood of 5,000 cases.

Sadly, it seems that way doesn't it. I can just envision sometime in 2175 someone uncovering 3 cases of 1987 Topps.
